View Full Version : Herman Cain Who is funding his private jet?
Napoleon's Shadow

Herman Cain arrived in Tennessee yesterday for a "tea party" event. But he arrived in a private jet. How can his campaign afford this jet at this point in the game?
Maybe Uncle Ben is firing up the printing press to help Herman out?

Sick thing was this seems to be a GOP/TP collusion because the Lt Governor and Speaker of the House (all RINOs) were there and spoke on his behalf.

he is a very rich man. He has a very very very very solid list of business experience. I wouldn't doubt it if he was worth more than 50+million bucks

Good for him.
I hope he spends it all on a losing campaign.

That is an ancient Learjet. Models of that vintage can be purchased or leased for very little money. I am astonished that a Presidential candidate, let alone any person of high net worth would travel in a plane like that. There is no Air Carrier number visible on the aircraft, so this flight couldn't legally be a charter flight, and must have been donated to Mr. Cain's campaign. This particular airplane, N279LE, belongs to ELG Air, LLC, which is owned by Environmental Law Group P.C., of Birmingham, AL. ELG was an Obama donor in 2008.

Are you suggesting that Obama supporters are funding Herman Cain's travels?

I doubt the Obama supporters even know who is using their plane. It is probably managed by a third party. The whole thing is just an interesting coincidence.

How much?
New ones start at around $5 million and go all the way to 50+ million.
A Learjet 45 stars at $11.5 million, but there are cheaper small jets out there. A Cessna Citation Mustang starts at only $2.5 million or so.

How much?
The airplane in question is worth about $250,000 (or less) and can be dry leased for about $500/hr.
Here is a similar plane: http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/LEARJET-25B/1974-LEARJET-25B/1181101.htm?

The plane in the pictures would be at the other end of the spectrum. Somewhere between the ones you list and the one in the picture, there are tons of great planes in the 1-2 million price range, many of which could be leased with a nominal down payment and an hourly rate between $1,000 and $1,200 with a monthly minimum of as few as 10 hours.

ELG was an Obama donor in 2008.
Corporations can't donate to campaigns, so perhaps you meant certain employees donated to Obama?

In the links I posted, Gregory Cade, a beneficial owner of ELG, is an 0bama donor. As Napoleon suggests, there probably are other ELG related 0bama donors that are his employees, but I was talking about Cade specifically.

I think he listed his net worth for Election purposes as between 15-20 million. Somewhere in that ball park, I don't have the exact figures in front of me right now.

I could have sworn I saw an article pegging him at a billion. I'll have to look at that. It would explain the plane. I posted a thread about how Koch organizations were apparently paying to fly him around for a while.

We have new allegations that Block was running the campaign with external finances in the early days, which is illegal.

Perhaps the Koch brothers are footing the bill.
