With Mike Huckabee's exit from the race, Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin are now on top of the Republican field, according to a Gallup poll released Wednesday.

Twenty percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters say they'd support the former Massachusetts governor, while 18 percent say they'd support the former Alaska governor.

Newt Gingrich comes in third place with 11 percent.

Ron Paul at 8%.

Hmm--guess Huckabee leaving didn't do much

Why in God's name are they still polling Palin? She's NOT running. Period.

most polls are off a bit but this one seems to me, to be very flawed. something went wrong with this one. They only polled old guard republicrats or something.

Gallup polls have always been weird with Ron. I have no idea who they are polling. Or maybe it is the actual people v. touch tone (to my mind the latter is more like a ballot and more likely for people to stay on the line as well.) I'll wait for PPP (which at least is consistent)

Survey done May 2-15...? That is a long time span.

This is not a proper poll.

They took their results from March-April and reallocated Huckabee's and Trump's numbers to the voters' second choice. Those numbers reflect results almost two months ago.

The survey done May 2-15 was just to get their name recognition percentage.

The accompanying table displays potential Republican candidates' nomination support from March and April, based on reallocating choices of those who initially supported Huckabee or Donald Trump, and Positive Intensity Scores and name recognition for the two weeks ending May 15.

Would it benefit the campaign in anyway to conduct our own polls?

I suggested that here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?293089-An-Electoral-College-Case-for-Ron-Paul

TPTB do.

If Frank Luntz (FU Frank) demonstrated anything, it is that polls are easily manipulated and deliberately prejudicial.
