Since I have not got the full format ready, and we don't have a set amount of pages the length is somewhats unknown. I am thinking something 75-150 words for the feature articles. Lower end for smaller ones. As to date.... I would like to get some articles for the purpose for setting up the format and what not in the next week. My overall hope though is to get the Magazine ready for Online by June 24th, so everything needs to be in for editing, proofreading by the 10th, and on my PC for insertion by the 17th.

It would be great for you to work on the article :D

I would like articles to be done by June 2nd so they can be looked at by editors, that will then give me time to make any changes to allow it to fit within the format.

75-150 words? That seems a little short to me...

I've started on a small (should end up around 200-300 words) "What constitutes a first-class President" or "Which Republican is best qualified for President?" type piece if we want to establish some background information about Ron. It's not overly persuasive not on political issues, it's more on his credentials as a doctor, veteran flight surgeon and national guard, being a best-selling author for books on economics and freedom, and consistent voting record.

Let me know what you think of the idea. I'm about half-way thru with it.

In a magazine shorter is better. You want to be able to hold someones attention just long enough to get them interested to find out more. We will be providing links/ads to some of the best Ron Paul resources for information.

75-150 words does seem extremely short. I'm looking at a piece I'm writing and it's currently at 400 words. that's 2/3rds of a 8 1/2 sheet of paper. It's 4 paragraphs. My plan was to keep it under 2 pages, as I don't think it will fit on one page. That would be in the 1,000-1,200 word range.

As to the piece, I was writing it to sent the freshman class in the House and the 19 doctors in Congress. It could be re-worded a little to make it an article. It's about why we have a health care crisis and the only solutions being brought up are shortchanging benefits / payments and figuring out how to pay for expensive care instead of addressing the core issues and making health care affordable again so it could be paid for out of pocket.

ps: the above ^^^^ is 142 words....

Sorry to hear about your breakup.

As to computers - great timing! Yard sales are in season again and you can pick up an older system mega cheap! Ive seen them in the $25-30 range. Hell, I've seen them on the curb waiting trash pickup!

Also, students are leaving school and many are selling their systems - not as cheap, but still cheap and newer.

Look around.

First off - the cover - a dissenting viewpoint. I think the original eagle ROCKS!, the Red, White and Blue one looks like crap - in my opinion...

I'm reminded of the phrase: If fascism ever comes to America, it will be draped in the flag and carrying a cross. That eagle looks like it's wearing a flag. It also just doesn't look good artistically. The constitution background also clutters and messes with it, as opposed to the original at an angle and not interfering with the eagle graphic.

As to the Social Security article. We have 10% support in Iowa. That means we LACK 90% support in Iowa. It's a good article. But not if it's on page 1 or 2. Too much "Ron Paul". Like I expressed before, we need people nodding with us, agreeing with our views and THEN pointing out that they are also Ron Paul's views. The first third or half of the magazine should address issues only and NEVER mention him, and then either at the end or phased in slowly, with greater and greater mentions so they get familiar with him slowly and don't turn off. Other candidates positions should also be mentioned as w go along, so they realize they are not what they want - but subtly, not blatantly. This needs to be more like seduction, as opposed to a hit piece or a RAH, RAH our guy! type thing. Otherwise, we will only be preaching to the converted and not hitting our target audience. Changing minds...

I had been thinking about that. I am not sure which way to go though. There are pros and cons to both. I know that if successful, and we launch into doing future editions then ads for sure. just not sure how it will go with the first issues being "covert"
