Romney probably spent $50,000 on Facebook Ads to target people and get them to Like him.

Romney was a governor, Paul is a congressman....if Paul was a governor he would have well over a million likes by now. He probably has double the amount of likes every other congressman put together.

Also, not to nitpick, but 902,000 is only 1.5 times more than 357,000....not 3 times more. 3 times more = 1,428,000 likes.......go re-take 3rd grade math hehe

It depends on whether you interpret the phrase "n times more than x" to mean n*x or x + n*x = (n + 1)*x. I think most people mean the former, but using the phrase "n times x" instead of "n times more than x" removes the ambiguity and means n*x.

I am not a facebook fan of Ron Paul, I don't link to or use facebook for anything but people I really know in person. Sure I've shaken RP's hand a few times, but I do not know him as a friend in person.
Therefore no FB. and it doesn't mean anything good, or bad.

If you have $300 and your friend has $100, you have 3 times as much, or 200% more than what he has (300-100 over 100), which is 2 times more.

This shouldn't be a surprise. During the 2008 campaign, Facebook was just getting started. Most of the people on Facebook were internet junkies like us, so Ron Paul had way more fans than any other politician on facebook. Times have changed. Now everyone is on facebook, and the "likes" are more proportionate to the actual voter population.

In the last hour and a half Romney's facebooks like have fallen from 1,131,925 to 1,131,909. This is the first time I've seen it go down, maybe the start of something new. He now joins with Bachmann and Perry in having a period of negative total likes.

It's roughly 2.5 times more. 2.5 ~ 3 as any good physicist would say.

As of today: Romney = 1,131,995 Ron Paul = 544,078. That's only 587,017 more than RP, so barely 2 times more. We're catching him.

I think that when you look at it percentage wise, Ron Paul supporters, while many are young and have FB, do not see the necessity in having a FB or oppose the privacy eroding nature of FB.

Just a theory. Those of you who do have a FB, will be working overtime though to win family and friends over.

He was a governor and frontrunner presidential candidate last time, and was the 'presumed frontrunner in waiting' the last three years. And kept the same account. Ron started his in May and wasn't any of those things.

RP now 544,256 Romney gained a paltry 42 more likes compared to 178 new Likes for Ron. I told ya we're gaining on him.

lol You guys are missing the point. Sure, this is just talking about words and doesn't matter, but for example:

if you have 3 cookies and your friend has 1 cookie, you do NOT have 3 cookies more than your friend. You have 2 cookies more, which is 2 times more cookies. Or you can say you have 3 times as many cookies (1 times 3 = 3).

This doesn't even matter but it sort of bothers me reading this on a ron paul forum, because libertarians are much more likely to think about what they say before they say it, so please do so ....this is 2nd grade mathematics. :)

Romney spent 50K on his facebook ads, to get over 1 Million Likes?. Likes are about .30cents apiece when you have a company that is doing the work for you and we KNOW, Romney has hired the best of the best, the most expensive ... and .30 is dirt cheap. You've got to include the staff and the company that actually does the work and there's other costs as well. Currently at 1,132,114 Likes, even if they were a nickel apiece, that's a bit over 55G's.

For every 100 Likes there is an average "Unlike" factor of about 3-5%, and with political campaigns the "Unlike" factor is much, much higher, people come and go. Romney has paid dearly for those Likes, and they will begin to evaporate at some point.
