Hello everyone,

As you may know, I'm not of voting age and am working on leading my parents towards becoming Ron Paul supports. I'm making some head way, but my dad told me today that he supports Mitt Romney.

I think it would be useful to have a single thread where we create a 'library' if you will, of the problems with Romney and our arguments against him, why Ron is so much better.

Some topics we could hit on:
-RomneyCare (My dad believes it was small scale and much better than ObamaCare and therefore not an issues. Could you guys help me point out some issues?)
-Flip Flop Issues
-Abortion
-Gay Rights
-Monetary Policy
-Foreign Policy

Please comment so people can come to this thread to get help articulating what's wrong with Romney!

Mitt Romney is an aggressive militarist who supports massive military expansion and the PATRIOT act, and uses Muslim conspiracy theories to justify his views.

Additionally, Romneycare is nearly identical to Obamacare, right down to removing American citizen's freedom of choice by imposing penalties to Americans who chose not to buy insurance.

But what could I use to convert a pro-war on terror republican such as my dad? I mean, what are his views on domestic policy, monetary policy.... things that I could use in contrast to RP's views?

Do you have a good article or video on RomneyCare? I haven't found any good ones yet...

Hey Nick,

if you want to convince your parents to vote for Ron Paul, its not the way to approach it.

What you do want to know, is what the important issues are for your parents. Once you know that, you can explain the stand of dr Paul on those issues and use those to convince them.

Its the old question: "what's in it for me?"

So if you talk with your parents and afterwards post their most important issues here, I guess we can help you out to give you good arguments.

I know, thats the best way :) This though, is us watching the news and Trump announcing he's not running, and my dad telling me he has taken a liking to Romney. I'm looking for the most significant problems with Romney-- why a social conservative should vote for Ron instead.

social conservative: Ron paul is pro-life, does not want gov intervening in families, and has a consistent record. Romney is pro-abortion with tons of flip flops.

He is EXTREMELY up front about it too. Paul doesn't mince words.

Short answer:
Ask your dad: "Liberals believe there is an endless supply of money for domestic programs like universal healthcare, high speed rail, college loans, government jobs and government pensions. If you oppose such programs because they are too socialist and cost too much, why is it that you think there is an endless supply of money for war? We are spending as much money on the military as we did in World War II, but we're not fighting World War II. If you think the financial matters will somehow work themselves out, why not just vote for a big domestic spender like Obama? That way you'll get both domestic programs AND war."

Follow up questions:
"Do you believe a war worth fighting is worth paying for?"
"Do you believe we are paying for the wars or putting them on a credit card?"
"Why is that Bush can start 2 wars and still cut taxes? Why were taxes so high during World War II?"
"What are the consequences of putting the wars on a credit card?"

Long answer:
In the Ron Paul 2012 link in my signature, read the section titled 'A Foreign Policy of Freedom'. I laid everything out. Bottom line: the rising debt will lead to an economic collapse, when the economy collapses America will have no money to defend itself, and in times of crisis totalitarian figures like Hitler come to rise and promise false hope and false solutions that people are easily duped by.
