If one of my stock picks does what I think it's going to do I'll have plenty of liberty bucks to give the good doctor!

Also remember to save we have to raise a super huge amount on November 5th. We have to double or triple what we raised on November 5th, 2007.

Did Mitt Romney raise 10 million in a day recently? How is that possible?

He gets alot of high powered donations where people just max out.. So he gets money early but then people are maxxed out

This presents a problem. The goal always is set higher than what we raise - our 10 million goal "only" raised 6 million. But if we set a goal like 20 million, it's a big PR risk if we fall short by a big margin. :O Perhaps part of the trouble with taking on opponents that can print money? :D

WTF!? Romney raised 10 million??? Apparently he had a telethon crew, why the hell didn't we think of that? Thats a great idea. This guy now has 900,000 friends on facebook, how is this happening?

So what, he got $10M. He loaned himself over $40M last election and still didn't get the nod.

But he hasn't announced yet. I was under the impression that if you max out to a politician during his exploratory stage it resets as soon as he announces.

If you donate to the exploratory committee, you cannot donate again for the primary once he officially announces. You can only donate again in the general presidential elections.

Unfortunately I may have to do a lot less this time than in '07-'08 due to the albatross around my neck - I still have to pay off $1200 in vet bills for the cat shelter. Our fundraising hasn't been going well at all. (We did win the $5k grant from Pepsico but the whole amount must be - and has been - spent on the outdoor enclosure project.) I think we've only gotten about $50 in donations so far this year, so my partner and I have been paying all the bills, not only for the vet but all the regular expenses as well. There's only so much you can do when you live on $825/month and have a mortgage to pay off!

So was the 10 million in pledges or actual donations? Also, would this include any money that Romney "donates" to himself? And since he has not yet announced as a candidate, will we ever see the sources of this $10 million via the FEC website?

It seems like last time around we got worked up over some of Romney's big "donations" only to find that a big chunk of them was his own money.

But he had to pay some insane % to the telethon company, increasing the overhead with a big claim of intake.
