Headed to the Newt event after the Herman event. Scheduled to start at 5:30. Got there at 5:50. No Newt, running late. Had crowd of about 125 or so. Crowd seemed more main stream republican types compared to Herman's crowd who were more tea party-ish.

I heard that some old guy told Newt to drop out now before he embarasses himself any more. ANd Newt flinched. :)

...125 people for Newt and 80 for Herman reportedly. That seems pretty lame with less than 90 days to go before the Ames Straw Poll. Thoughts?

With Ron Paul, there would have been thousands. Gingrich has name recognition, so on his part this is really weak. However, for Cain, who doesn't have name recognition, it's understandable. Cain is still building, and it is possible that he could "pull a Huckabee" as the saying goes, to rapidly gain support and go from an underdog to a serious contender in the early primaries. Like Huckabee, his debate charisma is getting attention. I wouldn't underestimate him. He's a serious threat.

But Newt's campaign is basically neutered, no pun intended.

Dumb, cocky attitude of yours. This time last time around Huck was lucky to draw 50.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE NEWT GINGRICH!

Why do we always insult our own? We fight among ourselves too much.
