Someone requested that there be a poll to figure out what the single most important issue is to forum members.

It depends on what you mean by that. I have a couple of issues that I won't vote for a candidate unless I am in the same camp as them on the issue (abortion and broadly non-interventionist foreign policy being the two major for me), but other issues might be more important in another sense. For instance, even though I could disagree with a candidate on economics (not to the point they are socialist or something, however), I think that the economy is the most important issue in terms of the upcoming election.

This is so hard for me. I'd say foreign policy & ending the fed...but after the fed is ended the troops will have to come home so I guess I should have voted fed. I just think there's more we can do convincing people to bring our troops home.

Balanced budget.

I chose "ending the Fed" in the poll since it's the best option to get a balanced budget. But other was probably my choice.

I just realized seeing it in a list makes me consider how inter-connected it all is. Without the fed we can't have this foreign policy, or such a massive welfare state. Without the excuse for war we wouldn't lose so many of our liberties such as what the TSA is doing, and the patriot act.

True. Everything is connected. It is difficult to really answer this poll.

I care the most about our foreign policy, because I find it absolutely reprehensible in its current form; however, in the poll, I voted for "Ending the Fed" because I recognize that the Fed really controls the purse strings as far as how much money goes towards bombing innocent foreigners.

Auditing/ending the Fed would accomplish many other things on that list, including reigning in our foreign policy. It's like choosing A, B, F and G

Pro-Life

Although for me prolife includes war, torture, and the death penalty as well

Returning to non-interventionism. As QueenB4Liberty said, while ending the fed may have a domino effect, I'd say that goal is much farther off in the distance than convincing people to bring the troops home. Cutting back on our foreign policy is also the biggest step we could realistically take, imo, to reduce the deficit/debt.

Actually, the single most important issue to me is one which has not been discussed enough in the Presidential campaign: the sanctity of life (both of the unborn babies as well as of our military members who are sent to die in these unjust wars).

I wish you'd say "Sound money" rather than auditing/ending the Fed. Auditing won't do a whole lot, ending it could be meaningless if replaced with another fiat currency. It just needs to be sound money, because that's the bedrock upon which an economy prospers (plus a few other things, of course).

I have too many. "The Constitution" comes closest since I agree with Ron that that would fix a whole lot. But representative government of the people not special interests is also way up there.

All the wars. We have to stop doing things that cause suffering before we end the entitlements that make (some) happy.

For me it was impossible to give a single issue.

1. Civil Liberties and Obamacare should be the same thing. Being forced by government to buy healthcare is a violation of my civil liberties. Government mandating anything for families, marriage or children is a violation of ones civil liberties and is unconstitutional. So I suppose in this respect civil liberties would be my choice if that was what is included.

2. No reason both of these could not be done at the same time "Ending the IRS" and "Auditing/Ending the Fed".

3. Returning to a Non-Interventionist Foreign Policy. Bring the troops home!

I guess that would be my order of things. As far as immigration I used to be for better border control but now I am on the fence. I am concerned with the way this country is heading that I could be stuck behind something like the Berlin Wall where I cannot escape from whatever this country turns into. Illegals however should not recieve any special benefits and pay taxes just like everyone else.

All those issues are importanat to me. It is hard to single one out. I think I would boil it down to following the constitution as closely as possible. All of the issues in the poll will kill our Republic if left unchecked.

And how would you go about doing that?
