Interesting article about what kind of voter Huck attracts and how it might split in IA and SC. It's 3 pages and absolutely infuriating as they mention EVERYBODY, including a bunch that said they would not run EXCEPT Paul!

This article accepts comments - GO SLAM UM!

related: HUCK mentioned 5 candidates, including MB and Palin that he thought would get his supporters. Paul was not on the list, according to FOX.

tease:

The fight for the Mike Huckabee voter is now under way.

Huckabee's decision not to run for president is already scrambling the battle for the GOP nomination, triggering a competition for both his social conservative and economically downscale fan bases, pressuring Mitt Romney to reassess Iowa and leaving a big slice of voters in the caucuses and in South Carolina up for grabs.

It doesn't matter who the media types THINK Huckabee's supporters will vote for, what matters is who they ACTUALLY will vote for.

Huckabee dropping out is good for Ron Paul, especially in Iowa. In general, the more empty suited establishment types run and split the establishment vote the better, but Huckabee supporters in part liked him because he wasn't a Washington insider, and called for some serious changes, like the national sales tax (regardless of what you think of it as an idea, it would be a major change.)

I find it hard to believe Michelle Bachmann will run. I could be wrong, but I think she'll stay out because she has a relatively competitive Congressional seat to defend. The left-wing in Minnesota despises her with a vengeance, and they would really ramp up to take advantage of her Presidential campaign as an opportunity to unseat her.

I was always impressed with the Huckabee supporters. From what I saw, they were very good people. Thing is, Dr. Paul did and does represent what they are really wanting much more than Huck ever did. I always thought that they chose Huck because they were scared away from Paul for some reason. If they really understood his positions, they would be strong Paul-supporters. Dr. Paul is the logical candidate for traditional conservatives; just as he is for libertarians and so many others.
