It would make sense that our victory is preordained if the Constitution happens to be as good of a document as I think it is. The slide away from liberty was predicted, but this Constitution does seem to always leave the opportunity of returning after a refresher course, even two hundred years later. This could be but a cyclical purge of government, done in waves to trim that which crosses the lines, and society as a whole chooses to undergo this negation of government when the previous organization outran its use.

The best way to further progress this is to get the public used to the idea of periodic bankruptcy of government. Bankruptcy style reorganization of the government on a periodic basis might even be healthy, as an academic thought. Also, if people knew the government was due to go bankrupt if it ever overextended its financial reach, people would be aware that it is risky to contract for business with the government. This would essentially make it subject to some of the market rules as faced by any other company for the services it will start forcing its way into providing over time.
