"To say I want to legalize heroin is a gross distortion! I want to legalize freedom! Leave it up to the states!"

Wolf Blitzer went from FEMA to Heroin to Anti-Abortion. They are fighting us!! I love it!

He was, but Ron was on his game. Plus, Wolf at least lets his guests talk without constant interruption.

From the perspective of a general liberal CNN viewer, this interview so far probably isn't winning anyone over. What they heard is "Ron Paul doesn't want to help people who go through disasters", "Ron Paul wants to repeal Roe. vs. Wade", "Ron Paul will be in his 80s when he's president".

If there were any Republicans watching (doubtful), he might have made some headway with his stance on abortion and the Constitution.

05-13-2011, 03:46 PM
talking about him now. Republican strategist says he's too consistent to get any votes. Says he is pro-heroin, and against going after Bin Ladin. Also says he will not even be a factor in the election.

FreedomProsperityPeace
05-13-2011, 03:48 PM
Oh....and now they trot out Blankley and Carville to beat him up. Usually you have a Republican vs. a Democrat pundit debating each other. In this segment, they're both clubbing Dr. Paul!

His response to Wolf's heroin question was fantastic, talking about distortions. He will now have a chance to follow up on a second round of distortions from the republican strategist regarding bin Laden. If he hits this one out of the park, some viewers will key in on how the media distorts his positions.

CNN set this up perfectly. It was like the bizarro John Stossel hour. They talked about the flood situation first, and then brought up FEMA, Heroin, Anti-Abortion, Chances, Age one after the other. Then more about the flood. Then Carville and the GOP guy. Then they said Huckabee was the front runner, even though CNN's OWN poll has Paul as the frontrunner against Obama. Crazy.

That person didn't like his interview on good morning either. We like to sit here and criticize EVERY single interview, but realistically one interview isn't going to kill us.

It's a long long long campaign. Ron Paul has a lot more people that know who he is now, and that was our main problem last time. A lot of people know he's not just some crazy outsider now. He has like what, 9-10 months to explain his stance? He'll be fine.

Guitarzan
05-13-2011, 04:08 PM
What does that mean?

Yeah...there are a few people here that think Ron should either keep his mouth shut on certain issues, or change those positions altogether so he's more palatable to the mainstream. In essence, they want Ron to become like Romney.

Ron Paul will have 90%-95% name recognition by the end of the week.

They're attacking him like he's Palin circa 2008. But he's attacking right back at them, unlike Palin circa 2008.

I think if we survive this initial onslaught, there is literally nothing left except the racist newsletters that they can throw at us.

Survive the racist newsletters, and it's basically DieBold as the only thing that stops us. But we have to act like we're at 1% in the polls.

The only hope I really have from that, aside from a better response from RP and the other parties involved (ahem*LEW*ahem), is that it's a story without much legs. It is what it is, and it can't really stay in the news cycle longer than a few days unless the campaign has some stupid response that draws it out. It's something that could fairly easily be swept away by bigger issues. The best possible outcome is Paul looks better for staying issues-focused while the main thing being thrown at him as a personal accusation of racism. And I don't really like it, but there are a lot of GOP voters who will be very sympathetic to claims of false racism accusations, particularly if that is being used as the main issue to discredit RP at the moment.

haven't watched any of this, but from where we are this early in the race, I like our chances.

Most conservatives like everything about Ron Paul except for foreign policy, which they're softening on.

Most liberals like everything about Ron Paul except for social issues, which they're softening on.

Bottom line, it's the economy, stupid, and Ron Paul wins this every time.

"no, we shouldn't be over there. Why? This country is bankrupt, spending trillions of dollars to maintain this empire. We elected Obama to supposedly end this, and he has expanded on this"

Ron is on FIRE. He destroyed Chris Matthews and Wolf Blitzer within a 30-minute time span.

Why
Which of the several conflicting stories do you believe?
Why do you believe it?

I believe he was dead long ago.
Because,
He was diagnosed with a serious terminal illness and required constant medical care.
He was not expected to live 5 years. That was in the late 90s.
he has been reported to be dead several times since then. And buried.

I seriously doubt that by some medical miracle he had survived this long.
I also question the ever changing stories (by folks known to lie) about his recent and politically advantageous death.

Ron is both NOT Stupid and is a medical Doctor. He has questioned the DNA (that could not possibly been done) and the discrepancies in the story.

His statement that it would give rise to "Theories" is true.

Good stuff. He is getting a lot of time to talk. Fewer interruptions. More forceful in making his point and not letting himself be interrupted.

It's likely still a message of principle that will fly over the heads of too many voters, but at least we're getting closer to the point where they can make an informed decision if they choose to.
