Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee looks like he’ll give the 2012 White House campaign a pass, says Mr. Huckabee’s top political operative.

Unfortunately, that's just an opinion piece, with no actual facts. I hope it turns out to be correct though.

Huckabee needs to stay out.

Not a chance. In Huck's book from a couple years ago, he had nothing nice to say about Paul.

THIS IS SO BIG!

I don't think people understand how important him dropping out is.

How big of a jump will this give us? 5%?

Excellent. I wonder how long it will take the polling companies to remove his name.

I don't think it is reliable. Fox News is putting this out there so when he announces they can claim ignorance when they get hassled over not yanking his show. I heard that he's already putting together local campaign offices.

More. It lets Huck fans have time to find a new candidate, it pulls him from polls (many he is doing well in), it opens us up in Iowa, and keeps us at the front of the pack.

If he decides not to run, polling companies will likely remove his name after this weekend. This weekend he is going to say whether he'll run or not.

Just some stuff from the article made me laugh.

“He has by far the clearest path to the nomination of all the 2012 candidates,” one of the would-be Huckabee team said.

Well of course the people who wanted to be part of his campaign would say that.

He leads or is near the top of virtually every poll of Republican primary voters
Really? Which ones?

He wants to run against Rand for 2016....haha

Huckabee supporters are the most likely ones to jump onto the good ship Ron Paul if their own sinks. They are mostly motivated by his empty talk of a "fair tax" and his social issues, so Ron Paul can easily scoop many of them up. Check out online Huckabee forums and you will see many a man who is almost but not quite ready to support Ron Paul when Huck doesn't run.

I was thinking Huck staying in would be good because he would split Newt's votes. Do you guys really think Huckabee voters would be more likely to lean Paul than Newt?

Newt has had three wives. I heavily doubt Huck voters are into that.

It depends on what Huckabee says. If he attacks Newt during the primary, that'd be great.

Don't be surprised when Palin announces that she will not be running either.

Huckabee cannot get elected. He would be guaranteed to lose the election against Obama.

1) No body is interested in paying a 23% national sales tax! The unfair tax is a sick joke!

2) The moderates will not vote for an evangelical preacher they think will violate people's rights to live their life how they see fit!

3) No Ron Paul supporter would ever vote for someone who supported the War in Iraq, wanted a new prohibition on cigarettes, does not want to dramatically reduce government, and believes the govt has the right to change human behavior!

With Palin and Huckabee not running, things would be much easier.

It's actually a rate of 30%, they just use 23% as a valid comparison with the income tax.

Absolutely. But Bob Dole couldn't have beaten LBJ, much less Clinton, and this fact couldn't have been more obvious from the very start. Yet the G.O.P. still nominated him for the job of trying to.

Polls show that a lot of Palin and Huckabee voters go for Paul when those two choices are removed.

Huck was just on Cavoto, right after that awesome 12 minute Ron Paul interview, and his body language indicates he is not running. He also didn't speak at all like a candidate would if they were laying the groundwork. Plus, he recently told his South Carolina team to seek work on other campaigns, so I say the planets are aligning, and Huck is out. (Fingers crossed!)

I follow a very simple principle.

If 10% was good enough for Jesus, it ought to be good enough for Uncle Sam! That includes ALL taxation though, local, state, and Federal!

Guess we got a different vibe on the interview. To me it seemed like he saw the rumors saying he wasn't running and made a it a point to say "NO one knows yet" besides his family.

Huck and Palin are both neocons. They don't want to end the war in Iraq, don't want to abolish the FED, don't want to dramatically reduce spending, don't want to abolish the income tax and replace it with NOTHING, do not want to end torture, and do not want to end the war on drugs.

He said on Cavuto that he will announce his intentions in his show tomorrow. It was hard to read him. He sounded like he was still in campaign mode, but there wasn't a "fired up" feeling to his voice. He spoke about Romney and his MA health care law, but didn't attack him like a potential candidate would.

I really really really really really really hope he isn't going to run. He's intellectually weak, he's polarizing, and he's not right for America. With that said, he would be a thorn in Ron Pauls side....

Any chance the GOP 'front-runners' decide not to run and all back Newt? Could be a way to prevent the neocon vote from being split.

INtrade up the past 3 hours from a -86% to a -77% still.... the snaggle-tooth preacher has to work a deal out that if he runs and doesn't get the nomination (used a distraction) that he gets his $1+ million salary show back on the air.

I say he's running after a book tour, show appearances, and spending days at NAMM in the spotlight. The people that support ole Chucko are what the RP campaign folks better be targeting ASAP... that goes for a professional and expensive runned campaign, full speed out the gate.

RP and support PACs should already be running boobtube commercials during primetime slots.
