In 2008, I read through a great number of posts and opinions about Ron Paul. Many of them were vitriolic enough to induce libertyrage. The most frustrating comments where by those who posted completely baseless claims. Among them, one being "Ron Paul is an isolationist!". (LIBERTTYYRRAAAAGEEE!)

I just recently created a new website called http://www.isronpaulanisolationist.com

Currently, it has a very simple and direct answer. Not enough of a case for most people, obviously. I am wanting to provide a more concise explanation to reduce the hostility and panic that people may have concerning his foreign policies - which in my opinion is going to be one of the toughest subjects to deal with as he attempts to win the average Republican over.

I've found plenty of resources, but would like some youtubes and Ron Paul quotes concerning this subject. If anyone has any of these, including other websites with some good talking points, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Well, according to the dictionary, he is (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/isolationism):

the policy or doctrine of isolating one's country from the affairs of other nations by declining to enter into alliances, foreign economic commitments, international agreements, etc., seeking to devote the entire efforts of one's country to its own advancement and remain at peace by avoiding foreign entanglements and responsibilities.

Well, according to the dictionary, he is (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/isolationism):

He supports non-interventionism. Isolationism = North Korea.

Definition of NONINTERVENTION

: the state or policy of not intervening <nonintervention in the affairs of other countries>

Note: Problem is, they don't seem to delineate between noninterventionism and isolationism. In fact, noninterventionism isn't even in the dictionary. At least this one.

This morning I sent an email about this very subject to the right-wing radio morning talk show guy I listen to on my drive to work. From that email...

Referencing the Webster's Online Dictionary http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definitions/isolationism?cx=partner-pub-0939450753529744%3Av0qd01-tdlq&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=UTF-8&q=isolationism&sa=Search#922%29:

"Isolationism is a foreign policy which combines a non-interventionist military
policy and a political policy of economic nationalism (protectionism). In other
words, it asserts both of the following:

1. Non-interventionism – Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances
with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial
self-defense.

2. Protectionism – There should be legal barriers to control trade and
cultural exchange with people in other states.

Isolationism is not to be confused with the non-interventionist philosophy and
foreign policy of the libertarian world view, which espouses unrestricted free
trade and freedom of travel for individuals to all countries. This "libertarian
isolationist" view is best defined as a policy of non-participation in foreign
political relations, but free trade and affability to all people."

And that's what I'd like for this website to do, is draw that line and explain that it's far from what they may think it is.

He's a freedomist.

He did oppose attack on Iraq that did not threaten or attack us, a pre-emptive attack that was based on bogus claims and racial motivations because Iraqis were of same race as those of reported 9/11 attackers.

He opposes foreign interventions and propping up purchased dictators against the will of native populations of other countries even if they are brown. He also wants to end foreign welfare aid programs for perpetual welfare states and not just domestic ones.

That does not make a man isolationists , even though some racial minded foreign interventionists try to claim so.

"isolationist" was originally coined as as term of abuse for those seeking to prevent American entry into World War II. Sen. Burton K. Wheeler(D. Mont.) and leader of this faction particularly resented it. Evidently Dr. Paul does also. I personally don't find it objectionable, and it originally did not imply support of high tariffs and protectionism.
