This is Google trends. He's seemingly come out of nowhere, and is now being described by a range of sources as some "mysterious" "outsider" dark horse candidate. After suspiciously achieving massive dominance in Luntz's focus group(which have been noted for their fraudulent nature in the past.)
These headlines perturb me. Suddenly his name every where, Cain supposedly having won over the internet and the tea party. This is only a small sampling, mind you.
