Ralph Nader?

That guy is a socialist. I'm not sure how Paul and Napolitano would feel about that.

Oh, and I love the way Gerald says "Napolitano". Italians unite.

I hope our grassroots campaign doesn't get cocky now! Hopefully we are even more active with ideas than last election.

Celente predicted a lot of things that didn't come true. We definitely can't afford to rest on our laurels this time though.

Still could happen. Even if he's a few years off, I wouldn't suggest that he doesn't have any credibility. Ron Paul is making similar predictions.

Oh I think a depression is coming. But I think it's silly how Celente thinks he KNOWS exactly when. RP & Peter Schiff just give a general time frame.

He made the mistake of naming the time for the collapse: first spring '09, then fall '09, then sometime in 2010, and made almost all his predictions based on the collapse. Ron Paul knows a collapse is coming but he knows better then to say when. Celente still managed to make some accurate predictions like the rise of a tea party as well as:
Frugality among consumers is outliving recession (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Frugality-among-consumers-is-apf-3355135283.html?x=0)
Recession spurs gardening boom (http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/national_world&id=6711607)

I like Celente's clarity of the problems that we face, I don't care about the dates of his predictions but for the insight of them. An American Renaissance is already here and growing as he spoke of. Hopefully it will manifest Ron Paul as President in 2012.

I'll make a bigger prediction.

Anybody running for President can win.

Celente's prediction isn't worth anything, especially if it is phrased the way the thread title suggests it is.

Same guy who said we would go into a Great Depression by 2009.

We are in a Depression. Real Unemployment is close to 20% and inflation is at 10%

25% of homeoweners are underwater with their mortgages....millions of college grads living back home with parents...1 in 7 on food stamps...

These are Depression numbers comparable to some of the 1930's years.

The only reason you dont see bread lines like the 1930's is because we use debit food stamp cards instead.

I am glad you brought this up about Ralph Nader as it baffles me that he gets so much love from Ron Paul supporters. It's great that he wants to reduce military spending and I may agree with him on a couple of other things but this guy would be a nightmare of a president. He loves to pull a copy of the constitution out of his pocket and wave it around but have you ever heard him quote the part of the constitution which allows the federal government to run a single payer health care system? The guy wants to raise the minimum wage significantly (somewhere around $10.00/hour), he believes the federal government has an important role to play in education, he thinks there is nothing wrong with Social Security (yes, he actually said that!!!) other than the taxes aren't high enough, he supports affirmative action, his whole "living wage" thing, etc. Also, I believe his hatred of corporations is not just because they may do something bad here and there and that they get bailed out, I believe the guy generally hates the idea of successful big businesses.

I couldn't agree with you more. And there is a continuing progression for the worsening of this depression in regards to the policies that are being conducted. We need to focus on the facts of the policies and not the assumptions of individual characteristics of individuals such as Celente...character assumptions are simply a way to divert attention from factual policies that cause and continue the problems.

Same guy who said we would go into a Great Depression by 2009.

Who says we're not? Do you know what a depression is by definition?
If you take into account that .gov is spending 4T this year, and GDP is (guessing) roughly 12-14T, that's 30-33% of GDP being spent via QE money. What if .gov wasn't spending that? GDP would theoretically be 9T. Since 2008.....that's 3 years of negative GDP.

That's a depression by every measure.

If that were true, then Celente wouldn't be predicting a 2012 Great Depression right now. He would've said, "My 2009 prediction is correct, and we're living in it!"

I hope you're not telling me Celente predicted the 2008 depression in 2009. Not much of a prophet.

Celente has been wrong over, and over, and over again. The only reason he says this is because he knows who is audience is, namely Ron Paulers. So, he uses Ron's name whenever possible to drive up traffic and subscriptions, and there you go. It's a good business model. He said a major third party would form for 2012. Wrong. He said the college bubble would burst. Wrong. He said the 2009 TEA Party riots were the beginning of a revolution. Wrong.

Argue all you want. The facts are the facts. By every measure of a depression we are IN ONE RIGHT NOW.
However, I appeal to you this; go home tonight and tell whomever you live with that we are in a depression no different than the Great Depression by any means of measure and tell me how far you get with that argument.

Yes, the government IS going 'bankrupt.' I think every Libertarian will agree to this. You do not understand where I'm coming from-- I would LOVE for a true Great Depression where people lose everything and wake up to the evils of the government. I would LOVE for there to be some sort of revolution or secessionist movement. But if this what the depression is-- then NONE of that is ever going to happen.

Hah, an economic collapse is what may be needed to save our heritage and our nation. The sooner the American Empire falls, the better. I just hope there's enough people educated on the ideas of Liberty before the inevitable happens.

Honesty is nothing if the intentions are bad.

So what? Who cares whether or not a person is corruptible when his principles and morals are corrupted from the get-go?

"Uhhh. The guy is a socialist and wants to heavily regulate every product and service on the market, BUT YOU FORGET!!! He's HONEST!!! He's cool in my book."
