Haven't seen this posted yet, but Google has statistics tool that displays some metrics on number of searches done and volume of matches.

This is a link for GOP candidates: Ron Paul, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, and John Mccain:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=ron+paul%2Crudy+giuliani%2Cfred+thompson% 2Cmitt+romney%2Cjohn+mccain&ctab=0&hl=en&geo=US&geor=all&date=2007&sort=0

And this is a link with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama added in place of Thompson and Mccain: http://www.google.com/trends?q=ron+paul%2Crudy+giuliani%2Cmitt+romney%2C barack+obama%2Chillary+clinton&ctab=0&hl=en&geo=US&geor=all&date=2007&sort=0

Interesting stuff, and I know that this is a blunt tool, but it puts things in perspective. There is one statistic that Ron Paul wins by far though, and thats the ratio of Searches over References.

Edit: I just noticed that the data doesn't even go up to April. Thats a big almost nevermind then... I want to see data for May and June.

That's interesting.

Ron Paul search breakdown by state: by number of searches.
1. Florida
2. District of Columbia! It seems Ron Paul is causing quite a stir in D.C.
3. Texas

yeah but it's way behind. I think it's awesome, but it looks like it stops at the end of February. I didn't even know about RP then.

Yeah I noticed that after I posted it (see edit). :)

So that makes me really optimistic for what the data would show for June!

So, after some more digging, I found this:

http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?q=ron+paul&date=2007-5-15&sa=N

Ron Paul was 86th in Google's Hot Trends for May 15th, 2007.

He doesn't register for May 16th, or any other date that I can find.

Yeah it's not very relevant right now, see how it changes in the next month or two. This data is before Paul's clash with Rudy right? , yeah we really can't tell much from this, but it seems to prove that the numbers for Fred Thompson in the mainstream media are most likely complete bull. especially since he's a famous actor and he's still way behind all the other candidates.
