He goes to see the Constitution of the US.

Hmmm. There is nothing about free markets or free enterprise.

There is an inherent problem with his interpretation of the Constitution. Of course, there's nothing about free markets. Free markets come about from individuals, not anything from the government. The fact that the Constitution is one of enumerated powers, means that the government can only do certain things listed in that document. Which means that the people are free to do everything else. In essence, that is a free market. Free markets are about letting free people do stuff which are in their own self interest. There is nothing that the government does to allow for free markets. They come about organically (I don't like that term, but I'll use it for lack of a better word).

Michael Moore is a ****.

Might I recommend watching Jeffrey Tuckers lecture entitled 'Capitalism is Life' on MisesMedia Youtube. That should lift your spirits :p (It's also quite funny)

I think the broader issue is that economics and even just the financial part of the newspaper and CNBC and whatnot have become more popular with people and young people in particular and democrats are still living in the 80's and 90's when that stuff was not considered very important or interesting.

I saw the other big lefty one I can't remeber what it was called but it was like gold went up after 9/11 and people who held gold made money on the tragedy. that's like a profound concept to some of these poeple. as if there was anyhting anyone could do about that.

austrian and some leftist economc stuff comes together on corporatism but the lefts approach is to conflate it with capitalism. In that michael Moore movie, which i also stopped watching but out of boredom more than anything else, he talks abut some judge who was assigning kids to some detention home that his friend was making money off of. Moore completely ignores the states role in that, to him it was capitalism! as if profit and loss and the division of labor gave that judge the authority to take those kids out of their homes.

Not that interested in watching it, to be honest. Moore hasn't filmed a worthwhile "documentary" since Roger & Me. Fahrenheit 911 was an election-timely Bush bash that was loose on facts (even hard to enjoy for someone like myself who was outspoken against Bush's presidency), and Sicko was the ongoing ramblings of someone who hasn't a clue about the health profession.

Am I really to expect that his new movie is going to be any less smarmy, any less frivolous about truth, or any bit enlightening? After Sicko, I've realized that even my car-wreck curiosity isn't there for him anymore.

Moore epitomizes why I absolutely hate the left. The GOP has it's faults, but they're correctable if you can connect the dots for them. The left is too far off the deep end to even begin to reason with.

The Constitution was written before Karl Marx and the heights of industrial power really took off. Makes me wish something had been added to the Constitution about guaranteeing a free market environment. Then again, the left would still have room for interpretation, arguing government should step in to make what they consider a free market. There's no easy winning on economics with people who are committed to socialism.

Amazing find!! He really is at least half way there, and a lot closer than the politicians in D.C. and most of the mainstream media, IMO.

Agreed. I don't have a problem with people being economically ignorant, but I agree with this:

"It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance." -Murray N. Rothbard

I would look like a total idiot if I tried to argue about quantum physics with someone, but its easy for me to avoid looking like an idiot by not pretending I am knowledgeable about something I am actually clueless about lol.

Maybe, but because he is making so much money with his message I doubt he would ever be genuinely interested in learning about economics or taking an objective look at his preconceptions.

A bleeding heart if I ever saw one.

Ever see the video where he says that wealthy people's money is actually "our" money?

I am pretty sure the guy still sees the economy as a pie.

Agreed, he is the epitome of an useful idiot! In the end he cites FDR's new bill of rights. Saying everyone has the right to own a home. Yeah how did that work out for us! One of the main factors we are in a depression today!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

There's nothing more ironic than a millionaire with three chins bitching about capitalism.
