View Full Version : Will Saturday Night Live do a skit on the GOP Debate?

Saturday Night Live is airing a new episode tonight with Tina Fey as the guest host.

I have a gut feeling that they will do a skit on the GOP Debate. If so, this will mark the first time Ron Paul has been mocked by Saturday Night Live. Rand was mocked a few months ago in the George Washington skit.

The correct answer is that SNL has not been relevant since the early 2000's

To be fair, their portrayal of Sarah Palin definitely hurt her

I never saw the Rand thing. You know of a tube?

It sucked. They gave Rand one line and it wasnteven aqua buddha related.

Too many candidates the MSM aren't actively promoting, so the name recognition is too low.

Yep. The undeclared candidates debate.

They said "the declared ones, ron paul, santorum, pawlenty, I'll stop there before I go to sleep....

Undeclared candidates..."

Ron Paul was the first name mentioned. The guy playing Sheppard Smith then said Santorum and Pawlenty and..... I better stop before I go to sleep. Let's talk about the real candidates that have not declared yet.

It was Trump (perfectly played), Bachman, Palin, Romney, Gingrich, and Jimmy Friggin McMillian. Most of the skit was terrible. The Trump guy made me laugh, though, and the Jimmy McMillian guy had a line of "I want to assure all the Birthers here that I was not fathered by a billy goat".

indeedy i do feel my belated "NO" vote is very correct.
the NON!DEBATERs were the butt of SNL humor
insted of the very real & sincere debaters!
tis the EGOTISTICAL HUBRIS in full
of all the bashful "no shows"
that drives a humour?
is there video?
as egoism

That, along the fact that impressionism is the weakest form of comedyl, is why they're no longer relevant. (Unless Justin Timberlake is involved. He's pretty funny.)

I typically can't keep my eyes open past the first commercial of SNL. Typically this is a wise decision given the rarity of a funny SNL skit these days.

Lame. Let's just keep parodying the same people year after year.

^I agree. Tina Fey though had the best line about Katie Couric.

Such a tame SNL show, and skit. I think NBC doesn't want to upwardly promote the so-called lesser candidates, or a FOX cable debate in any event. Nor did they want their phones to light up with thousands of annoyed Paul supporters upset over a portrayal of him as a nutty candidate. Through several sketches SNL also laid out the PC line about Osama's supposed 2011 killing and how "all Americans are cool with how the US got 'em." Anybody questioning any aspect of it or our foreign policy (not stating anything, just asking a question) was branded a "conspiracy theorist." So much for SNL as a courageous comedy show.

Bottom line, the BROADCAST media is still resistant to giving Paul ANY emphasis, since they know the exposure may elevate him. WE should not be so caught up in the cable TV debate scene, by implication. Mainstream exposure for Paul through the primetime networks is what we should be shooting for, not cable crumbs.

the poll is now split 50/50

via a 7 to 7 vote tally now

I voted, because I couldn't believe this was still at 7/7 after the matter was already aired :p

i see its fun being a tie-breaker!

besides, i feel they may decide

to do a skit or 2 on T~PAW

now that NEWT's EGO has

collided with MITT's smile.

SNL methinks hates the idea
of giving RON PAUL traction!

It helps them then.
and...Do you think Ron Paul will be made fun of in the future on SNL??

Aratus

T~PAW is more vulnerable.
HERMAN CAIN + T~PAW
could gang up on SANTORUM
or even if SNL tried to do a
skit like that, they'd still have to
show RON PAUL being there!
SNL knew he had strong poll numbers.
