A recent web communication from Al Qaeda is top news in MSM today. While we are believeing in Al Qaeda's ability to communicate with America, a related letter from Al Qaueda explaining why it hates our freedoms. It didn't get as much coverage in US MSM as it did in overseas media. UK's Guardian had published full message to Americans from Al Qaeda:

Full text: bin Laden's 'letter to America'

As for the first question: Why are we fighting and opposing you? The answer is very simple:

(1) Because you attacked us and continue to attack us.

a) You attacked us in Palestine:

(i) Palestine, which has sunk under military occupation for more than 80 years. The British handed over Palestine, with your help and your support, to the Jews, who have occupied it for more than 50 years; years overflowing with oppression, tyranny, crimes, killing, expulsion, destruction and devastation. The creation and continuation of Israel is one of the greatest crimes, and you are the leaders of its criminals. And of course there is no need to explain and prove the degree of American support for Israel. The creation of Israel is a crime which must be erased. Each and every person whose hands have become polluted in the contribution towards this crime must pay its*price, and pay for it heavily.

(ii) It brings us both laughter and tears to see that you have not yet tired of repeating your fabricated lies that the Jews have a historical right to Palestine, as it was promised to them in the Torah. Anyone who disputes with them on this alleged fact is accused of anti-semitism. This is one of the most fallacious, widely-circulated fabrications in history. The people of Palestine are pure Arabs and original Semites. It is the Muslims who are the inheritors of Moses (peace be upon him) and the inheritors of the real Torah that has not been changed. Muslims believe in all of the Prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all. If the followers of Moses have been promised a right to Palestine in the Torah, then the Muslims are the most worthy nation of this.

When the Muslims conquered Palestine and drove out the Romans, Palestine and Jerusalem returned to Islaam, the religion of all the Prophets peace be upon them. Therefore, the call to a historical right to Palestine cannot be raised against the Islamic Ummah that believes in all the Prophets of Allah (peace and blessings be upon them) - and we make no distinction between them.

(iii) The blood pouring out of Palestine must be equally revenged. You must know that the Palestinians do not cry alone; their women are not widowed alone; their sons are not orphaned alone.

This alleged statement * reminds me of the remarks of Huck on Freedom Watch about the US having some alleged bond with Israel which precludes the US from cutting off foreign aid to Israel. No, Huck, our bias in favor of Israel IS a major source of the problem in the Middle East. We need to cut off ALL foreign aid just like Ron Paul advocates. As far as this alleged statement, I simply discount it, the alleged capture of the hard drives, bin Laden's recent death and everything associated with the event UNTIL bin Laden's body is recovered and presented for independent analysis. Will the latter ever occur? Probably not so this alleged statement means absolutely nada because the premises on which it is based have not been directly substantiated.

* I'm not really discussing the veracity of this alleged statement as I have no way to prove or disprove it. This alleged statement could be a legitimate response to perceptions based on reports of OBL's alleged death in the media. I simply don't accept it as stated due to other questionable aspects of OBL's recent death.

what I meant to say was that what Al Qaeda stands for is Islamic conservative values and is not founded on liberal values, otherwise they wouldn't be terrorists in the first place :/

Wow. I'm about halfway through.

(Q1) Why are we fighting and opposing you?
(Q2)What are we calling you to, and what do we want from you?

"The American Government and press still refuses to answer the questions:

Why did they attack us in New York and Washington? "

In that incredibly detailed decription of dozens of reasons, omitted is any mention of wanting to kill us for our freedoms.

Al Kaline was a great hitter for the Tigers in the 60s and 70s. When I hear people on radio and TV say "AL Kay-da" often it almost sounds like they're going to say "Al Kay-line" the great Tiger hitter's name when they pause between "Kay" and "da".

Now they're telling us that "Al Kay-da" sent this "communication" as though Al Kay-da is the name of some guy with the first name of "Al".

Then it hit me that maybe they read the signature at the bottom of the "communication" wrong and it REALLY WAS Al Kaline--one of my childhood favorite baseball players--who was writing these "communications" and is possibly behind a lot of other mischief!

So, I included an autographed Al Kaline basball card. Maybe someone can compare the signatures.

Actually I believe it may be a mistranslation and it really should be 72 raisins. I understand the words for Virgin and raisin are very similar in that language.

Interesting. To be honest, I think Bin Laden makes lots of good points there. The strongest argument was when he was highlighting the [many] instances of hypocrisy. It was also interesting how he justified killing American civilians (Q1, 3-a) and how America is hypocritcal to argue that civilians are innocent - essentially, because America claims to be a land of, by and for the people, where the government operates with the consent of the governed, the American people thus support their government's actions and are thus not innocent of what their freely elected government decides to do in their name.

I also found it interesting that he mentions what basically sounds like an Islamic understanding of the natural law (Q2, 2-b-i), which is what founded the United States (though not Islamic, of course).

Overall, reading about Bin Laden's grievances was quite interesting. Several points made sense and really highlighted how wrong the neocons are. Ultimately though, however bad the injustices on the people of the Middle East, his solution, violence, is not the answer. Then again, America's founders went to war because of their grievances... Perhaps at the end of the day, we should all just do what Ron Paul says - pull out and leave them alone.

Although per Robert Pape's research, there have been at least three Chrsitian suicide bombers attacking Israelis, more than that were muslim fundamentalists and majority were secular or leftist marxist types.

I've got nothing against Raisin Bran. Most Boobus Americani that I run into are incapable of imagining that Muslims would want to blow themselves up and kill god-fearing US of Americans for any other reason than to get those 72 virgins. When I calmly resist pointing out to Boobus that he is obviously projecting and instead ask him to imagine the possibility that maybe its the fact that many of the Muslims' relatives and friends were murdered by cluster bombs dropped from US planes that makes Muslims suicidal (a la Robert Pape), Boobus usually gets angry. Sometimes he stares back blankly.

So, far from having anything against Raisin Bran, I was saying that now that I have Dr.3D's important news about the the Arabic word for "raisin" being mistranslated as "virgin", I now understand why the Muslims want to kill us: Its not to get the 72 virgins and it has nothing to do with their friends and relatives having their heads blown off by US cluster bombs. Clearly its only because they want the 72 raisins. And now I seem to remember that it was "2 scoops of raisins" that they used to say you'd get in an average box of Post Raisin Bran.

Robert Pape is world's leading expert on suicide terrorism and examines modern suicide terrorism use by some arab mideastern, Sri Lankan marxist groups tracing its origins to Jewish zealots fighting Roman occupation thousands of years ago. His research shows that very suicice terror campaign since 1980s has had a goal of driving an occupying force out:

Very interesting raisin cereal mix you guys have injected into this discussion. On that note, it appears arab men in holy land seem no longer willing to wait till life hereafter to collect 72 raisins, as jewish settlements grow deeper into arab lands, an increasing number of young arab men are going after settlers "raisins" that has caused a crisis of sorts in Israel lately:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pajvvFujDt4

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=113724468

There are fiery groups like Yad L'achim trying to save any raisins from going to the arab men but it's becoming a futile effort as so called seduction jihad seems to have taken off. Maybe this would result in some calm in mideast and less raisin motivated violence.

It is, probably deliberate for fear that awareness could lead to cut off of US tax payers foreign aid welfare for mideast regimes and other militant/non-mlitant interventions to suppress popular native movements of people other countries.

If the Americans refuse to listen to our advice and the goodness, guidance and righteousness that we call them to, then be aware that you will lose this Crusade Bush began, just like the other previous Crusades in which you were humiliated by the hands of the Mujahideen, fleeing to your home in great silence and disgrace. If the Americans do not respond, then their fate will be that of the Soviets who fled from Afghanistan to deal with their military defeat, political breakup, ideological downfall, and economic bankruptcy.

This is our message to the Americans, as an answer to theirs. Do they now know why we fight them and over which form of ignorance, by the permission of Allah, we shall be victorious?
