As Ron Paul sparred with other GOP presidential hopefuls in South Carolina, the Texas congressman's online fundraising operation was at work bringing in campaign dollars.
Paul is in the midst of a "money bomb," typically a one-day or even shorter Internet-based fundraising frenzy that he perfected during his 2008 presidential campaign. For example, he raised a whopping $6 million during one such money bomb in 2007.
The Republican raised more than $1 million as of 7 a.m. ET Friday, according to a tally on his campaign website. There is a billboard showing the names of recent campaign donors and their hometowns, along with a goal to reach $2 million.

Ron Paul has never organized or held a money bomb. They are organized and held by his supporters to show support for his vision of a free America in which the government is held to strict of the Constitution. Yes, Paul is made aware of the efforts and may post information about them on his Facebook page or mention them in emails to his supporters, but neither he nor his campaign decides, "OK, we're going to hold a money bomb." Other campaigns have tried it, often with abysmal success.
