Do we want to start gearing up for the next moneybomb to be on Independence Day? Thoughts or other date suggestions? I'm not able to make pledge pages or anything just thought i'd get the discussion going.

It seems like someone has already planned a money bomb for June 5.

I think that's way too close to today's money bomb for it to be successful ($1M+).

June is too soon in my humble opinion. July at the earliest.

I'd almost like to see us wait longer and save up to break our $6 million record.......

yeah. i agree that putting moneybombs to close together usually doesn't work. so maybe we should start planning for one in November or something.

Last time, the "sweet spot" seemed to be around 5 weeks, which would place us somewhere around Flag Day, if looking for a national holiday theme.

Today we are already 5th on the all-time best list of money the campaign has raised in a single day, with at least 5 hours to go:

Best Days:
Rank Date Total Donations
1 2007-12-16 $6,043,022.96 59,170
2 2007-11-05 $3,994,713.65 38,905
3 2008-01-21 $1,850,160.95 24,430
4 2008-02-01 $1,042,960.15 12,265
5 2011-05-05 $694,370.53 (and counting @ 7PM Eastern)
6 2007-11-30 $531,438.82 6,780
7 2007-11-06 $389,344.46 4,820
8 2007-12-31 $387,954.10 4,829
9 2007-12-17 $309,815.51 4,055
10 2007-11-20 $250,346.85 2,853
11 2007-11-11 $233,526.57 3,292
12 2007-10-22 $164,290.93 0
13 2007-10-18 $151,859.71 1,910
14 2007-10-20 $147,568.56 0
15 2008-01-07 $142,868.35 1,932
16 2008-01-30 $142,861.00 2,010
17 2007-11-07 $141,922.46 1,428
18 2007-11-29 $139,990.30 1,773
19 2007-11-27 $139,766.10 1,604
20 2008-01-22 $123,804.93 1,868
21 2007-11-21 $122,572.22 1,200
22 2007-12-03 $118,601.20 1,447
23 2007-10-10 $117,535.30 1,248
24 2007-12-15 $109,088.56 1,330
25 2008-01-08 $106,409.24 1,418

So, my vote is for somewhere around Tuesday, June 14th. It gives everybody time to regroup and make proper preparations like sites, videos, banners etc. It also allows time for gearing up teams for mass messaging.

5 weeks. Flag Day. June 5th is too soon, but nobody is stopping anyone from donating!

Gotta be the Fourth of July. C'mon people. Patriotism!

Seriously though, its long enough away that we can save up and hopefully make it huge, but still early enough before the Aug 13th Ames straw poll that they can put it to use for that extremely important event. The $1 million we raise today can tide them over until July 4th.

My .02

Consensus several months ago was everyone will be gone camping, and Media would be irrelevant and negligible on the 4th.

I like the Flag Day idea. It's patriotic, but doesn't have the problems associated with Independence Day. People will be out of town with their families on July 4th, spending money, and the last thing on their mind will be contributing to a campaign.

It needs to be a WEEKDAY near July 4th. Many won't have access to a PC on July 4th. Libraries people who donate at work may be inhibited. Much less those who will be busy blasting fireworks.

Independence Day Money Bomb FTW.

People said the same thing about 16 December 2007 ($6,000,000 Tea Party Money Bomb), that it was a Sunday, right before Christmas, nobody would be around because of the weekend timing, everybody would be shopping for presents, nobody would be looking to donate to a campaign.

We all know what happened next.

Absolutely.

Plus, Ron raising a ton of money on the 4th of July will put him in a positive, patriotic light for the rest of the campaign. Everytime they mention it on TV it will be "Ron Paul, the candidate who raised $4 million dollars on the 4th of July". Positive branding that we could definitely use.

July 21st -- the anniversary of the moon landing. Call it "Shoot the Moon", and put Ron Paul's campaign in orbit.

June 5th is way, way too soon. One of the reasons today's moneybomb was modest was because we only had a few weeks to plan.

July 4th will have too many people away from home, and there isn't any news coverage.

June 30th would be good, but an end-of-quarter moneybomb should be on June 29th, so West Coasters can get in and the campaign can add everything up. Make the June 29th (?) event for big donors, so it takes fewer people. How about $2500 on 6/25? Make the July 21st money bomb for $100.

The campaign needs money for Iowa. Having a late-July money bomb is not good for spending money in Iowa. Somewhere around the end of June or beginning of July is the best in my opinion.

Whenever we plan it for, we need to start working on it right away. This one was just started to pick up steam the last week or so. Will the admins of the facebook page for the debateday bomb be able to send out rsvps for the next one when it's up?

Something before the end of the quarter. I'm worried June 5th is too soon. If June 5th sticks let's have a reasonable goal of $500K. And perhaps another mini-moneybomb of $500K on June 30th.

July 21st. Shoot the Moon -- let's go for the record, and make a BIG splash before the Iowa straw poll.
The publicity from a BIG money bomb will be worth more than raising a smaller one in time to spend it in Iowa.

For a great metaphor/symbolism, I'm really liking July 9th. From another thread (emphasis mine):

I was kinda just throwing the july 9th date out there, but i like it the more i think about it. We'll have the entire july 4th period to hit up any large patriotic events and spread the word about the money bomb. It's just long enough away to start hyping it and getting everyone to save money, it's on a saturday (day after pay day). No one in the media will know why we chose july 9th. So when Wolf Blitzer asks "Dr.Paul Why did your supporters choose this day of all days to break the records?" He could say that it was on this day in 1776 that Washington ordered the Declaration read to his men to fire them up and now it's time for us to spread the message of independence to the troops once again!

Who cares about the quarter fundraising numbers. Ron Paul will likely post a pretty big pull anyways. I say we should be practical about this and make it early to mid July, maybe July 11. Less than two months doesn't give us much time to plan and promote. If we rush these we will have some pretty weak moneybombs that only get negative attention. And also think about who a lot of supporters are: college students, middle class families...We aren't a bunch of insanely wealthy supporters that can drop 30k a plate at some fancy fundraiser. A lot of us make small donations.

Also, we should definitely get some coordination with the campaign going. They could tell us if they absolutely need another moneybomb sooner rather than later to buy important stuff especially for Iowa. I don't know how much presidential campaigns actually spend, or can spend in these next few months. Anyways, I think early to mid July would be perfect. Larger amounts and less frequently is better than smaller amounts and more frequently.

July 2nd or July 4th. I would say July 2nd because we have the website and i truly believe that if we start now and make banners and road signs and start hanging up stuff on over passes with zip ties and spread it online like we did for November 5th and December 16th, we could make a wild fire of a money bomb that could bring in well over 5 million dollars. We need to start making these signs now, and the youtube videos now so that come July 2nd we know that 2 or 3 million will be a given and we will be hoping for 4 of 5 million, instead of hoping for one mil like we did for Debate day. Unlike the president's day money bomb and the debate day money bomb this money bomb should be promoted on the streets as much as it is online.

I like end of June for q2 numbers, those are always discussed in the media. I also like early July 2nd or 4th.

Could this be a 2 day money bomb that starts on the 4th and ends on the 5th? That way all the distractions of the holiday are gone and on the 5th people get back to the office and they r in the middle of a money bomb? Where does it say a MB has to be 24hrs?

We could still use the independence day theme. And yet all the cons of it during a holiday are eliminated.

Just thinking outside the box...
