Some of you 07ers may remember the site I created where we supporters could upload our photos and they got put into a big square mosaic. And then razmear and others got creative with the photos and then the forum worked together and got an ad printed up for Ames Tribune, and then posters got printed, etc, etc. Good times, good memories.

Well, in honor of the debate today and the money bomb and Ron asking for a show of support, I sucked it up overnight and dug the old site out of mothballs, and updated it for 2012.

Here it is: http://mosaic.ronpaul4prez.com

The domain will likely change and I'd like to update the design to something fresher, but this is just to get the ball rolling and start collecting some photos.

I didn't think it was right to re-use all the 07 photos, so we are starting from scratch again. You are more handsome (or beautiful) now anyway, right?

Also, for anyone curious what the 07 mosaic looked like with thousands of photos, here's an archived copy:

http://mosaic.osc.co.cr

And of course these were the source photos used by razmear at:

http://ronpaulmosaic.com

Once again I am making the photos available to anyone in a zipfile for you to do creative things with.

that's it, enjoy, and please help spread the word.

Awesome.
When I made the last mosaic pics, I was still a windows user, gonna have to find a program for Ubuntu that does the same thing.

I kinda doubt there are any linux apps that do that. Hope I'm wrong.

60 seconds of googling later... I'm wrong. Metapixel seems like it would work nicely. It is CLI, so I could even generate some images on the fly on the server. sweet.

There's also a couple others with GUIs.

Come on people... where the heck are you? I remember back in 2007 I posted on these forums about the mosaic site, and it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes before Lynn took the first step and posted his mug up there next to mine. We had 60 uploads the first day!

So I'm calling you out. Show some support for our guy here. It's free and quick.

BTW, I just created the domain mosaic.ronpaul4prez.com. It's a little nicer.

I just did mine. It's still lonely - just two people! I'm sure people will start joining soon. I wasn't around in 08, but I might have your mosaic on my wall? Whichever mosaic of Paul came free with the Rally for the Republic DVD is what I have.

Hey Mitch. Congrats on being the first to stand up.

If you are referring to a poster with this image, then yes... those photos originally came from the 2007 site. Somewhere in the archives here is a very long thread where the image, copy, and funding was put together in just a few days by many contributors.

Come on people. Look at that poster. Now imagine if Ron Paul were to actually get nominated, even elected, and a similar poster gets seen by millions. This is your chance to say you were in there from the start, from the very first day.

This offer expires at midnight Central Standard Time. ;)

Okay, this time I'm adding my mug. Last time I just added my $ and mind.

Are we gonna create a similar post with updated text? Not that the text we used back then isn't still current.

Edit: Oh, shoot. I misread the "donated" and thought it was for both 2008 and 2012. Well, I'll make sure to make the 2012 total donation reach the $2,300 limit, too.

Lord Xar ran that project. He'd be the person to ask. Here's the epic thread that started the ad/poster:

Anyway, I am making the photos available for anyone that wants to use them for projects that help promote Ron Paul's candidacy.

If you left your email address, you can update the info at any time. Just click on your photo in the mosaic and then click "Update my info". If you put in your same email address, you can edit it. It's not real high security, but better than nothing.

I fixed that issue. Thanks for pointing it out.
