lol nice. Why break it up like that though? That makes them have to pay more in cc processing fees.

I'm more curious as to why you chose those specific amounts... like 88, 93, 103, etc?

In any event, BRAVO and KUDOS!

He donated $100, and then he donated twelve times in pairs that each add up $200, with each pair being $1 further from $100 than each previous pair.

So the final pair is 112 (=100+12) and 88 (=100-12).

I wanted the campaign to still be able to say they received there money from small donations and it wouldn't let me donate $100 twice in a row so I had to improvise.

But when their FEC report comes out, it will only have your name on it once, with $2,500 as the amount donated.

It may but every time I have looked up what I have donated by doing a google search it come ups with the individual donations. Also, the campaign can claim it as 25 donations that average $100 because it was. Just didn't want to skew the average donation amount with a large donation.

I don't think some individuals donating $2500 will do much to the average donation statistic, but who cares anyway, $2500 is awesome, thanks! Wish I could do the same!

Hopefully more people are going to be doing that today.

A few large donations aren't going to skew anything. If anyone else donates a large sum, save the campaign money and do it all in one. No need to have more of it going for transaction processing fees than is absolutely necessary.

Yeah, this is true for future reference... we want the campaign to have more money and less lost to fees. :) But thanks for the total amount!

Not sure, but maybe they increased the amount allowed since 2008 due to inflation?

They can always hold the excess $200 until after he primary. :) That's what is traditionally done.

$2500 is the max for this cycle. It was $2400 for the 2010 cycle so I guess they adjust it every election cycle.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. These FEC laws are supposed to reduce corruption in campaigning... oh, but the corporations aren't limited. The irony.

I always donate in smaller amounts, too (under $200) because I think that way you can stay off the FEC lists, especially if you make minor changes to your name/address (e.g. donate once as "Bob" and the second time as "Robert"), etc- they are less likely to be able to compile them under one person. Or at least I think this is the case.

I work full time as an Electrical Engineer and also run a company Southern Steamers (www.southernsteamers.com - shameless plug since I was asked)

Southern Steamers is a company that my father founded about 10 years ago out of our garage. He passed away last year from a year and a half battle with cancer and had signed the company over to me a couple of months before he passed away. I had been working in the company so the transition was mainly learning all of the government regulations that I had to follow.

So now I have less time to campaign but more money so I figured I'd try to help get the campaign off to a good start.
