Apparently (http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-fox-south-carolina-debate-20110503,0,4969337.story). And the LA Times just called Pawlenty the "only top-tier candidate" in the debate. Yeah, he's top-tier because Paul is polling 4+ points ahead of him.

Odd that it was on the guide but now removed. Are they maybe downplaying it now?

The lineup for the first Republican presidential debate of the 2012 cycle is all but set, a GOP source told CNN Tuesday.

Thursday's debate in Greenville, South Carolina, sponsored by Fox News and the South Carolina Republican Party, will feature five potential candidates, the source said: Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, Texas Rep. Ron Paul, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and businessman Herman Cain.

So did Fox News boot uber-fringe candidates Buddy Roemer and Fred Karger? Or did they simply decided not to show?

The inclusion of only one candidate the media takes seriously (Tim Pawlenty) means they're probably going to write this whole thing off.

I fully expect the analysis of Fox News to be "Well look, this really does not matter. No big candidates showed up." But keep in mind this will be shown on Fox, which is the number 1 rated news channel, especially with Republicans. Paul at least gets a chance to put his message out there, and at least have one debate where he'll likely capture all the attention. Though I fully expect this will be the first of many. :)

I just saw a piece on FOX, it is still on. SC politicians are pissed more candidates are not participating.

Maybe not Fox itself, but their commentators after the debate. I expect to hear how this debate proves the GOP is weak and desperately needing Romney or Huckabee or Palin to run.

But they may discredit their own txt to vote poll...again.

May 5th was a poor choice of dates. Cinco de Mayo = cheap drinks which > presidential debate.

Big difference between disparaging your own presidential debate and a worthless text poll.
