not to start anything, but, uh, I chuckled when I saw he listed "President - National Board of Opthamology" :-p

Colbert roasted him for that.
Rand is leading the movement for an alternative Ophthalmology Board. :D

portfolio isn't stacked with gold/silver like ron ...his vanguard investments are pretty standard and what your everyday average person goes for (safe and reliable)

also ron has zero liabilities

proof rand's not a true believer! (just kidding!) But isn't his lack of gold assets surprising since he believes the US isn't that far away from a sovereign debt crisis?

that's because Ron is a G.

some of these personal finance reports are pretty interesting.

Take Mike Lee for example...2009 income of $800,000, yet his net worth is listed as between -35,000 and 200,000.

It would be interesting to know the progression of income of the Senators. From before they enter politics, then all the way along through state politics.Although I suspect that most come from wealthy families?

ACtually, while I agree he has a right to privacy, I think it is good for us to see these because people are always saying assumptions about their financial dealings and it is nice to be able to counter with facts. However, Rand's is more ordinary. Ron's is the one that shines. But by the time Rand bought a house, inflation and bubbles had already driven the prices to where you pretty much needed a loan.

edit, actually, if I'm reading this right it looks like he owns his house free and clear and the mortgages are on commercial property. If that is the case, more congratulations to him. I can't say the same for myself.... I used a conservative downpayment but did get a mortgage....
