“The United States Department of Defense did not do waterboarding for interrogation purposes to anyone. It is true that some information that came from normal interrogation approaches at Guantanamo did lead to information that was beneficial in this instance. But it was not harsh treatment and it was not waterboarding.”

One U.S. official, speaking to the LA Times, noted drily, “That took years and these guys don’t give it up all willingly.” So much for the canard that enhanced interrogation never, under any circumstances, yields useful information.

How could people in Gitmo that have been there for years, with no contact with the world ,know anything about Bin Ladin's movements?
This is (of course) assuming that the bullshit story of his recent death is true.

Torture is so effective I dont understand why we haven't given the go-ahead to our local police to use the same tactics.
