Would you support a legal measure that puts some fines or other discouraging measures
for news companies if they use photoshopped images while reporting news?

Photo touchup/air brushing/altering photos color tone etc is used not uncoomonly in US media. Should that remsin an accepted practise also?

No, let media companies survive based on their own credibility.

If Fox News uses a photoshopped image and it is found out, then MSNBC will probably do a report about it. If it's a big deal then people will find out and Fox will lose credibility. No need for the govt. to be involved in speech.

Besides, do you consider cropping an image to be "photoshopping"? Where do you draw the line? Where will the govt. draw the line if given the opportunity?

Ok good point, maybe free market of news media business should be allowed to correct itself, although it still leaves much room for news distortion in current corporate interests controlled setup.
Also to be devil's advocate, as almost all news companies have their own slants of words and that is generally accepted, shouldn't a slant of image pixels be also acceptable.

Drawing the line I giuess would be drastic change of an image like hair color change/facial features change without a disclaimer. In some circimstances, that could be just as false as writing a false story on a WMD threat.

This maybe in grey zone:

Doodle. Why do you always create threads where you propose new laws?
