I see your point, but I disagree. It's not like we're calling their cell or even using their personal e-mail.

I see it from this perspective:
They are used to getting bombarded with fan mail. Most of which they disregard. Maybe they look through it once in a while when they feel like it.
But on May 5-6, some staffer lets them know that they've been getting thousands of e-mails and/or calls, urging them to support Ron Paul for these reasons *insert relevant reasons/youtube videos here*.

And then, if all goes well, they will realize that because of their popularity, they could get Ron Paul thousands of votes with minimal effort, and they will be inspired to do so. At the very least, they will be more curious about what Ron Paul is all about.

I'd like to get more feedback. If you guys really think it will make us look bad, I'll drop it. But right now, I think it's a really good idea. What do you think?

It's Time,

Remember that video where Ron is being interviewed, and the reporter is like (paraphrasing, cause I couldn't find the clip) "I have to say, we've never received as many e-mails when we have someone on your show, as we did for you." I thought that was awesome. It makes RP's supporters look passionate and enthusiastic. The reporter wasn't complaining about the e-mails.

Drew Carey donated to his campaign in 08.

Instead of wasting money on a blimp I think it may be better to spend money on celebrities to
make a commercial about why they are going to vote for Ron Paul. Then put the commercial
on Ron Paul's 2012 website. Local meetup groups can download the video & then raise money
on a local level to pay to have it played in local media outlets.

Trickle down advertising. ;)

Drew should endorse RP on the air. How many middle aged women watch him every day? And that's one demographic RP is especially weak in!

We also need to go after Bubba the love sponge and Howard stern again. Both of them are politically aligned with Paul and have very fervent supporters. Beyond that Joe Rogan and Adam Carolla are also extremely positive towards Ron Paul. If we got all 4 of them all in early they could sway a ton of people.

Also not to be a grammar nazi but it is "write" a song not right.

I don't think it's a good idea to coordinate and post specific addresses to mail to, personally. I think it's a good idea to make a thread telling us the idea, encouraging us to do the same, and possibly who you contacted. I think we should all consider focusing time on people who are most likely to be able to convince others by their status or position. But each of us comes from a different perspective and has different contacts. So I think it gets spread better with individual effort than coordinated action.

There are folks that would get a kick out of getting a ton of emails all of a sudden, in the right spot it's a good idea. But for most people, even celebrities, that would only take a dozen or a couple dozen people to get the point across.

These people get thousands of emails anyway. I think we're fine as long as we're polite and not obnoxious about it.

I doubt he could do that. Not much of a political show and it would hurt ratings. Even Oprah's ratings took a big hit when she endorsed Obama.

Yeah it could. My issue is that if they are close to supporting Ron, they'll probably know about the moneybomb. If they aren't, this won't convince them.

But the good thing is to get the idea started of trying to get people who are going to endorse Ron sometime anyway to think about doing it all at once just before the debate. I'm thinking folks like Vince Vaughn who already came out with a blurb on Ron's book.

I don't see your concern. This kind of thing gave Ron a GOOD imagine in 08. I remember newscasters saying things like, "We received thousands of e-mails to get you on the show." It shows how enthusiastic and passionate his supporters are.

They'll get a higher opinion of him IMO.

Worst case scenario, they read one message, and erase the rest. I highly doubt they'll suddenly hate Ron Paul for getting e-mails from his supporters. They don't hate their fans.

Felipe Andres Coronel AKA Immortal Technique would be a great person to add to this list. His views are pretty much in line as well. And hes one of those artists/musicians/rappers who actually has real messages in his music. He is also an intellectual who understands a lot of the problems in our country.

It would be Insane if we could get him to do a rap bout RP and the problems he would fix but now im just in a fantasy land

Would never happen. Tech is a socialist, through and through. Lupe is a better, and much bigger, shot than Tech.

I disagree with thehighwaymanq.
Mos Def will be more of a hurdle than Immortal Technique. Immortal Technique may be a socialist, but out of all the republicans, Ron Paul has views most in line with Immortal Technique (foreign policy, personal freedom, corruption). Immortal Technique would love Ron Paul if he got to know him.

Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins). This one would also be huge. He's more on the conspiratorial end of libertarianism (similar to Muse). Believes the H1N1 Swine Flu virus was probably manmade, is against vaccinations in general. Is aware of both HAARP and the chemtrail phenomenon. Is an opponent of GMO food. His Twitter posts suggest he is against the TSA Airport Security and believes global warming is a scam. Check out this video of him and Steve Jones (Sex Pistols).

I like the video complitation idea a lot.
I don't think we should mention it in these e-mails though.

That way the press from endorsements will last longer than if we start with it.

Cross Nugent off the list. He supports Allen West..

And some of these suggestions are just unrealistic. For example, I see Immortal Technique listed above. I love IT's music, and some of the message he spreads, but not a chance in hell the guy would ever support Ron Paul. Let's focus on people we can actually get an endorsement from.

Hey how about these: Seth and Trey Parker (creators of South Park) [libertarians]

Norm McDonald: comedian (known for playing Death in Family Guy) [independent]

Emery Lee: (Host of Mail call and was in Full Metal Jacket) [Glenn Beck Fan so possibly Republican]

Aaron McGruder: (Creator of the Boondocks {popular comic and tv show} ) [opposes the wars and voted for Nader, very skeptic about Obama]

He makes these loud rants about all sorts of things, mainly about Democrats and he rails on Obama A LOT. He blames both dems and repubs so he sounds Libertarian and he appeared on Sean Hannity's radio show. He's on youtube and he starts out going "What's next?! I'll tell what's next!" Here's a good example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kadr3xVAXV4&feature=channel_video_title and here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sGe8tWzioc

Okay now here's some more:

Walton and Johnson in the Morning: The Radio Show in Houston Texas. http://www.waltonandjohnson.com/ Very libertarian support laws against illegals and always criticizing Obama. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Drinking-with-Bob/208393970357#!/pages/Walton-and-Johnson/172224883472

I think Joe Rogan is a big Ron Paul fan as well. And there's the bonus
that he has his own podcast where he talks about whatever the hell
he wants for 2 hours.

Joe is a particularly key celebrity. He is very hardcore in the libertarian direction. I think we already have more than enough support from him, but nonetheless, he is quite an influential figure amongst young people. Penn Jillette and Drew Carey are 2 huge ones and even though both (especially Penn) put forward an array of pro-libertarian commentary, I think they miss the mark on the key audiences. Joe pulls in young folk who are either drug users or quite liberal socially, many of whom I stereotype as not giving a damn about the system. With Joe pushing Ron, many of these unheard voices could be broken from their apathy.

It's a little long and wordy. What does everybody think?

Massive across-the-board debt, expanding bureaucracy, head-scratching foreign policy decisions, declining principles, questionable ethics, and a greedy, do-anything-for-votes mindset: current American politics is as toxic as ever. Politicians have furthered the already dwindling perception of the United States on the world scale, defaming the mystique of the once glorious United States of America. But for the past forty years, one man has distinguished himself from the rest. One man has been the pillar of political consistency, the champion of the Constitution, and the most responsible public official our country has to offer. Texas Congressman Ron Paul is the text-book definition of a leader. This political non-conformist is the mouthpiece of a growing faction of Americans determined not to repeat political and economic mistakes, be responsible for our actions, and succeed on principal. In times of political turbulence like this, it is imperative to listen to a highly intelligent, passionate, and influential leader. Ron Paul has inspired millions of Americans to challenge the status quo, not only through bold political action and ideas, but through uncompromising principals as well. Because of this, and your past as an outspoken critic of the political Establishment, we call on you to publically endorse Dr. Ron Paul for President of the United States in 2012.

The list of problems within the United States is almost growing as fast as the national debt. One politician seems to carry rational solutions, and has been for some time. Since his first Congressional term in 1976, Ron Paul has been heading the fight to lessen government, cut taxes, and bring back the Constitution to the forefront of politics. Ron Paul has essentially been supporting the same ideas since the 70’s; asserting his Libertarian values into the predominantly two party dominated House of Representatives. Prophetically, Mr. Paul warned the public about the dangers of a fiat currency not backed by gold. His prediction of the US economy were, and still continue to be, eerily dead on. His speeches on the House floor tried to show Americans the dangers of running dangerous budgets and policing the world. But after the thousands of disparaging comments, the endless attempts to belittle the controversial ideas, the refusals to be allowed into the Presidential debates in 2007, Ron Paul is still extremely relevant in American politics today. That exact truth is what makes Congressman Paul such an inspiring man, and provides the basis for his vast influence of young people. Overall, Ron Paul is a model husband, father, government employee, citizen, and person. He represents a classic “good” guy who refuses to be a product of his volatile environment filled with greedy and unethical cohorts.

A nation is only as strong as its leaders and its future only as bright as the potential of its youth. But with leaders as weak-minded as the ones that head the Cabinet and Congress today, the United States continues to further its dip into the lonely, hated, debt-ridden abyss. The United States needs Dr. Ron Paul. We ask you to please publically show your support for Dr. Ron Paul in the 2012 Presidential Election. Every new Ron Paul supporter helps, but someone of your stature only helps the cause more! Thank you for all you do, and we hope to see you supporting for Ron Paul in this upcoming election.

Thank you,
The Grassroots supports of Dr. Ron Paul

My $.02

I was thinking we should make them specific to each person with little sayings or quirks.

For example, drinkingwithbob's letter would be like, "What's next? I'll tell you what's next: Ron Paul."

Don't forget to ask for a 10-30 second video clip of the endorsement, so we can make a complitation.

For people whose positions we know (anti-war, anti-TSA, anti-Fed), we should copy and paste some facts about Ron Paul's strong dedicated stance on those issues. Include YouTube videos if you want.

For the long shots who aren't normally active in politics, we could point out Ron Paul's integrity and honesty.

Point out to everyone the importance of standing up, making a chance, and endorsing Dr. Paul.

Thank the people who have endorsed him before.

Remember keep it simple. If you want to say multiple things, maybe it's a good idea to just say one, and post the other thoughts here, so someone else can use them.

Any other ideas?

Glad you guys are working hard and full of enthusiasm but getting a bunch of endorsements from c listers is a waste of time. Hell, just about any "endorsement" is worthless.

Let's be conservative, and say RP has 1 million supporters. If we each convince 4 other people to vote for him, RP wins the GOP nomination.

These c-list celebrities could get easily get him hundreds of votes a piece.

Short, Simple, and Specific:
Our messages should be short and simple (they'll get lots messages), but most importantly,
BE SPECIFIC- Don't send the same e-mail to the same person. Tailor it for the person you're sending it to.

Motivate them to do more than just endorse Ron Paul on twitter. Get on the news, speak about why you're voting for Ron Paul! Change is possible in 2012! We just have to work together and put in the manpower.

The 2 endorsements that would be the most beneficial and most influential in gaining Ron Paul actual votes are Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. I am not a fan of either of these people but if there is a chance at all that these two will endorse Ron Paul then these are the endorsements we should be looking for. These two endorsements will bring in more physical votes than anyone else.

I just contacted big name travel guide Rick Steves about endorsing Ron Paul. Rick Steves is a board member of NORML, and made the following statement a few years after 9/11.

"And the United States was outraged. So much so that -- three long years later -- many Americans still refuse to even dignify the attack by asking, "Why did they do it?'"

Sounds pretty similar to what Ron Paul said in the debates back in '07! If anyone else is interested, you should contact Rick Steves and kindly ask if he check out Ron Paul and consider an endorsement.

Unfortunately, Ted Nugent is the average GOP voter, these are the people we need to win over. Don't get me wrong, if someone threatens me on my property, I wouldn't hesitate... And I'm sure the mass percentage of Ron Paul supporters feel the same way.

Basically, there is no need to call Ted Nugent a piece of &*^%. We have to rise above this kind of rhetoric, and win over the hearts and minds of people, with logical discussions. Even Ted Nugent, may see the light, I sure hope he does, and lot more people do, or we aren't going to win! It's time for us to go out of our comfort zone and reach out to the traditional voters, but make sure you are armed with the knowledge to discuss the issues.

I think you're right on! I think it's precisely why Jon Stewart didn't mention Ron Paul on O'reilly. We need to organize with our local meetup groups, and discuss ways to penetrate the mainstream GOP. Of course, nearly everything rides on the Ames Iowa strawpoll!

Here's what sailingaway is talking about, a petition to endorse Ron Paul, would be far more accepting! http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/pauldobson/

Trickle down advertising. ;)

I really like this idea... How could we make this happen? Has any celebrity endorsed him yet who you would consider 'commercial worthy?'

The only one that I'm definitely sure would do it in a heartbeat would be Joe Rogan.
The way around getting more celebrities would be more of a paparazzi/viral method.

For example, say you live in Los Angeles. You and a friend are walking around &
see Drew Carey standing in front of a local coffee shop or or John Mayer waiting
for the valet to get his car. You ask for a photo & your friend instead videos with
his iPhone while you ask him what he thinks of Ron Paul. If it's super positive, post
the video on Youtube & then link the video on Reddit, Digg, etc. It would be a lot
cheaper than traditional commercials.
