I just registered. The way this is set up, 3/5 th of the delegates are selected at random and RP is specifically mentioned in the article as someone that could benefit from this move. All Floridians, please do this!

I read 3/4 (75%) of the delegates are random. (The other 25% are "appointed" by party leadership.)

I also posted information (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?290042-Presidency-5&p=3238317#post3238317) I got from my county's REC, where the chairman is a co-chair of Presidency 5. His newsletter said "about 70%" is random, and the rest is appointed and/or automatic.

Note that 30% is a pretty big block to beat if they vote in unison, though. We really need a lot of people there.

I'm trying to get an idea of what the chances are of an applicant getting selected as a delegate by lottery. I've tried calling (850) 222-7920 but keep getting busy signals. I've sent a message from presidency5.com asking them how many Florida Republicans registered for the Presidency 3 straw poll in 1995 and how many registrations they expect this year based on response thus far.

While there are no signs yet that the Ron Paul 2012 campaign is organizing to win the Presidency 5 straw poll, according to this article, neither is any other campaign: http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/elections/presidency-5-stirs-up-excitement-8212-sort-of/1169709 This is good news if we the grassroots can organize a get out the vote effort ourselves before the June 10 deadline to register online at http://www.presidency5.com .

You can register online by the June 10 deadline without paying anything. See if you can find some other Ron Paul supporters in Orlando and pool your money together so that if any of you wins a delegate spot, you can pay for them to attend.

Too bad the deadline for GOP registration was Feb 1, 2011 (non-affiliated) otherwise I'd put my hat in the ring. I'll be back down in New Port Richey around the beginning of September.
