Is anyone else going to the gun show in Houston tomorrow?

I'll be there, chanting Ron Paul's name, wearing a RP shirt, and stocking up in case the SHTF.

I'm searching for a good flyer to have on-hand as well...any suggestions are welcome. Yea for gunshows!

Are gun shows usually a better place to purchase a gun (money-wise)?

I'm shopping around for a .45. One with a laser sight would be a nice touch.

Yes gun shows are great places to find deals, especially when you haggle the prices down with the vendors. I generally find them very accomodating.

Gun shows should love the hell out of Ron.

I'm not sure actually...this will be my first one ever. :D

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a frame of reference since I haven't personally purchased a gun before, and only have a vague idea of what costs what. I'll be doing more research tonight, but probably not enough.

So hopefully I'll be able to hide the fact that I'm a complete sucker and wouldn't know a bad gun deal if it shot me in the face.

At the very least I plan on getting Ron Paul's name out there.

Here are gun show slim jims, you will want to edit the bottom:

Note: Keep in mind that you will need to edit the text in the rectangle at the bottom of each page. I have no idea where it's directing people to, but you won't want to do that. Possibly, use that space to give them the campaign phone number and the campaign web site.

If you guys setup a table at a gun show, you might also want to take some of these, in case you need them. You'll want to create a flyer out of the information, probably. Most conservatives don't know this about 'ol Fred and it may be useful to have some on hand, if needed. :)

Sorry, had some flier links, they do not seem to be working......

Yeah, I know I saw some threads at some point with a good collection of flyers, but I can't seem to find them now.

If all else fails I might just pull some text from GOA's website on various candidates' track records.....or I'll just stick with the slim jims and wing it re: gun rights.

The gun show slim jims are good. Just pull up the word doc I listed and edit the bottom of each side to replace what's there with the campaign website and the campaign phone number.

I think I might go to this. If I have a backpack full of slimjims, are they going to stop me at the door?

Here's the details on the event http://www.reliantpark.com/en/cev/?169

Thanks, LiberyEagle! That will help a LOT!

I'll make sure and keep the Fred Thompson stuff handy...I assume everyone already knows Giuliani is a nightmare for gunowners, but Fred sure is playing the 'more convervative than God' card. These facts will bring him down a notch.

Anyone been to a gun show before with literature? Is there a standard policy on blocking people with literature (aside from people running booths, of course)?

I think we need to reach out to those who support the second amendment.

It's best to have a table at the gun show.

I don't see anything in the rules that would prohibit passing out literature.

http://www.hgca.org/show_rules.htm

But the rules do seem more focused on safety and what can/can't be sold....I wouldn't be surprised if they made up an extra rule on the spot.

I do see under Unacceptable Sales Items:
*Literature supporting anarchy, "get even techniques," overthrow of the government, politically slanted, racially prejudiced, ethnically prejudiced, inflammatory, terrorism and guerrilla warfare

...and under unacceptable practices:
*Display of anti-government materials

So if they want to apply those definitions very liberally they might try to stop us. At the very least I'll be chanting 'Ron Paul' the whole time....it's a nervous tick. :)
