Republican Congressman Ron Paul, who is considering a presidential run in 2012, re-arranged his schedule to have breakfast with Washoe County GOP leaders Friday morning.

Three years ago, he said that invitation wouldn't have happened.

"We were outsiders. We weren't invited to the convention," he said, of his bid to run for president in 2008.
But with big smile, "things are going our way," he said at a news conference Thursday in Lawlor Events Center during a visit to the University of Nevada, Reno.

Nice! Good article.

The Washoe County Republican Party presented U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, with a little gift Friday morning: The hidden “ballot box” from the Nevada Republican state convention in 2008.

Rather than send Paul delegates to the national convention three years ago, Nevada Republican convention chairman Bob Beers called the state convention to an abrupt end in April 2008. The lights were dimmed, everybody went home, and the 600 ballots stayed locked up in a cashier’s cage at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino until Republican National Committeewoman Heidi Smith and several others were given the key 18 months later.

So the Republicans had a little fun at a breakfast meeting Friday with Paul, who formed an exploratory committee this week to run for president again.

“I’ve got the ballot box,” said Kim Bacchus, coming out from a back room Friday to present the ballots to Paul as a gag. more at link

I don't think they'll be able to get away with any shenanigans like that this time and hopefully the gesture and "apology" is sincere. We'll see.

All the same they changed the rules so now delegates can't vote for another candidate even if theirs drops out, and that was how Ron got the majority of votes at the state convention they shut down by fleeing to destroy quorum. I do think they are trying to make unity moves, though.

That's the beauty of a convention. Rules can be changed! That's how the NV supporters got ahead of the establishment in 2008. They voted to change the rules and it passed!

No rule is concrete when Rules Of Order are used.

Does anyone have the full text from the link about them presenting Dr. Paul with the ballot box showing he had the victory? The link has been removed from the website. Thanks!

It is in their archive, apparently at this point you have to pay something for it. It does make it hard to spread around: http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/rgj/access/2333743271.html?FMT=ABS&date=Apr+29%2C+2011

It's the RGJ... A not so good website/paper most people from Reno would tell you. Yeah RGJ... it's a Libtard Yellow Journalism Rag Print. They (RJG) cost Sharron Angle a lot of votes with marginalization and hit pieces jourNOlism.

Next time post with the complete quoted article, because we'll see much more of this in the future from leftist rag print.
