SAN FRANCISCO – President Barack Obama encountered a rare protest inside a high-dollar, intimate fund-raiser at the St. Regis hotel Thursday morning.
The president was just beginning his remarks at the event, where donors paid $35,800 apiece, when a woman in a white suit stood up and interrupted to announce a song. (The video is here.)
Mr. Obama said that was nice but suggested they wait to sing it. But the table of 10 donors pressed on with their song, the refrain of which was “We’ve paid our dues, where’s our change?” (Full lyrics and the transcript of the president’s remarks are below.)
