View Full Version : The most ignorant comment about Ron Paul EVER made!

This one takes it.

Today, I was woken up by call from one of my best friends (he's a Leftist). He told me we were going to McDonalds with a girl from his class that he wanted to introduce me to.

I arrived at the McDonalds, there they were. She was absolutely beautiful. We began talking. I mentioned my major (mathematics). She said she was a Political Science major.

I asked what political ideology she ascribed to. She said that she was "Really, Really, Conservative." I said I was a libertarian.

She said, "Well, Yeah, I guess I'm a Libertarian too. I'm only fiscally conservative, but I'm socially liberal."

Yes, I know. I let it slide though. She was so freaking hot.

I asked her who she wanted to win the Republican nomination. She said, "Donald Trump."

I also asked her who did she vote for in the primaries in 2008. She said, "Giuliani."

She asked me who do I want to win nomination. Predictably, I said, "Ron Paul."

She then asked me, "Isn't he one of those loony conspiracy guys?"

Before allowing me to respond she said, "He will never get elected though."

She then attempted to make witty remark. She said condescendingly, "Hehe, if he got elected wouldn't we go back to the gold standard or something?"

"We would, like, be in Robin Hood clothing from the Middle Ages with bags of gold on our waist. HAHA."

The blood flowing through my penis ceased.

I took a deep breath and gave her a pity chuckle. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKkJPeDfoLY)

My friend immediately changed the conversation.

When she went to the bathroom, he told me "Bro, I don't care. I'll still tap that." I laughed. If you knew him you would too.

Sometimes, there is no use explaining these complex issues to certain people. She wasn't just kidding either.

Even my friend thought she was a bimbo, and he frequently makes fun of "Paultards." He never does to offend anyone either. I never get offended, it's quite funny.

I don't know maybe it's us two.

Educate that girl! Seriously. She may have been on a diet of pablum for so long that she seems hopeless, but her heart's in the right place. And from what you say, she has other things in the right place too. Surely you can invest a little effort...

That's not surprising. Ron has so many supporters who are outspoken 9-11 truthers that it often makes him look bad.

No, the most ignorant comment about Congressman Paul is that he is an isolationist, when he has told people repeatedly OVER and OVER again that he is a non-interventionist.

If anyone is a "Robin Hood," it's Obama. He wants to rob the rich to feed the poor.

This is like when my best friend from high school told me about his date with this one Roman Catholic girl. What did they wind up doing on the date? Debating religion. I did a facepalm. Seriously, never let politics or religion be the first subject you talk about with someone you intend on having a friendship of any kind with. It's just stupid.

That's where you made your first mistake.

She said, "Well, Yeah, I guess I'm a Libertarian too. I'm only fiscally conservative, but I'm socially liberal."
You should have run with this to see how much you have in common, and if she truly is a Libertarian, you could have mentioned how you've done your research on the candidates and that Dr. Paul aligns the most with all of your views (and her's consequently I'd imagine).

Btw, she criticized Ron Paul for being a conspiracy kook (which is invalid), but what about Trump and the birther jargon? He gets a free pass?

Just further proof that nothing good has ever come out of being a McDonalds customer.

"Aren't black people a bunch of savage murderers?"

That's not surprising. There are so many black people that run around stealing and murdering from people that it often makes them look bad.

Why is accepting the above logic as some sort of reasonable line of thought so wrong? Because it's the sign of an total goddamned idiot. Especially when there's tone given as if it's our fault these people see us this way and we somehow deserve it.

It's collectivism, plain and simple. Taking a few outliers blown up by the media and using them to judge the entirety of the group.

They say 'perception is reality'. I say listen to Shakespeare and 'to thine own self be true', because reality is reality, folks are folks, and stupid is stupid.

Haha, reminds me of agorism/doodle calling Ayn Rand a collectivist. And while "you can't fix stupid" you CAN fix ignorance. Many of the other posters are right though. She clearly has an interest in politics so the key is planting seeds. I personally prefer using the "Socrates method"". Pure logical destruction of other peoples idea's often just put them on the defensive and does more harm than good.

This.
I was talking to a liberal/socialist the other night. It was very productive. By the end of the convo she was actually agreeing with valid points I was making in terms of getting rid of minimum wage, mandatory OT pay etc which she had previously never even considered.

Ditto for publicly funded projects...instead of forced taxation, set the programs up to be financed through user fees...let the market pick the winner and have the GOVT program compete for the markets money...She was actually agreeing...a liberal with market oriented solutions rather then big govt tax and spend solutions!

She was in complete agreement that the GOVT was merely the means by which corporations attain their lopsided and unfair advantages.

Her solutions were govt oriented...not BIGGER govt, but smarter govt...which was refreshing...perhaps not ideal, but informed and not insane.

+1. She's potentially one of us. It takes working on one person at a time. It's worth the effort.
