Designing these things would be so much easier if we could actually use gradients....

seriously, the most you want to do is 2 colors on a white background, otherwise the production expense becomes prohibitive.

Sure, on print material the difference between 2 color and 256 color is basically nonexistent, however for signage, offset material, shirts, hats, and anything requiring plates (bumper stickers, lapel stickers etc) every additional color is a 50% price increase at least.

Many of the plate-process graphics have better price breaks at 2 colors than 3 because of the popularity if 2 color designs.

So red and blue on white material (or some other combination of 2 colors on a background) is what you are aiming at.

Whenever you start getting into gradients, your design is basically impossible to use in this context, and this design is nearly impossible to pull off in 2 colors.

We aren't going to be like Obama, with his "Billion dollar campaign" that he can afford process-color (CMYK) on signage.

You will find that it is way way way easier to make a good campaign logo in process color than it is in 2 color.

God I hope not. I don't think it was the best. I think it was better for getting attention than for getting votes, which is appropriate for an 'educational campaign' but which I sincerely hope and pray isn't appropriate for this cycle. Don't want to see it again.

The image above is a fine one. Very slick and well done. You could eliminate any comparison between the design of the 'A' and Obama's stuff by converting the crossbar to the usual voter's checkmark--basically a non-change. I think you ought to get them on the market toot sweet and make a buck or two.

I think it is great for Ron, stripped down, does the job, fiscally conservative.

Doesn't mean WE shouldn't have something a little spicier.

And his web page should be quality, as should his ads. Not fussy, but quality.

Instead of Aqua Fresh or the other 'special' red white and blue symbols that appears on the other challengers' logo, just have the background red, the middle a faded blue into white in the center and have Ron Paul in Blue letters and 2012 in white and have it read "LIBERTY: red FOR: white AMERICA: blue" instead of hope. "Hope" was so last 2008.

Gunny's right about the full-color designs. The campaign won't use them for financial reasons - which, in my opinion, is a big mistake. Ron's an old-fashioned, conservative kind of guy, so I fear that he won't see the point in the extra expense to produce nice signs.

The sign from last election actually turned me OFF from Ron Paul before I knew who he was. I remember it clearly - I saw a group of people sign-waiving for him in the mall, and I thought the guy must have been a joke. I distinctly remember making this judgment primarily because his signs looked cheap - like someone made them in times new roman on microsoft word. A sign for a PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN should not look the same as the signs for my uncle's school committee campaign.

do it 2 color on white, and give the flying bald eagle a white head. make the gradient one solid color, plus one more color, with the lack of color being white plastic. 2 color on white and your bumper sticker burden goes way down, for starters. not to mention signs.

This logo is looking better to me now that I've seen it on shirts and stuff.
I think I might like it all one color best, unless the 'A' is by itself- then the red A looks good.

Are we suppose to give our thoughts on comparing the eagle design and this one? I still like the eagle design better. But I'd like to see it without the gradient colors first.

ditch the word "hope." It's so cliche and it runs in contrast to our philosophy. Liberals "hope" and "feel." Ron needs to stay away from this type of ridiculous branding.
