Glenn Beck Dissects Huckabee’s Curious, Mysterious ‘Booger Bears’ (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/beck-dissects-huckabees-curious-mysterious-booger-bears/)

The Blaze
April 22, 2011

On radio today, Glenn Beck responded to Mike Huckabee’s scathing blog post in which he blasted Beck for calling him a “progressive” Republican. (We covered that part here (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/mike-huckabee-is-furious-with-glenn-but-should-he-be/), noting that it was originally a controversy drummed up by Media Matters.) And during the nearly 45-minute response, he reserved his most passionate words for Hucakbee’s charge that Beck is looking for “booger bears.”

In the beginning, Beck responded in part by saying he was set to invite Huckabee on to his radio show to respond to Beck’s charges, but Huckabee took to his website before that could happen. Beck also defended his remarks by saying he didn’t attack Huckabee personally, but rather went after his policies.

“First of all, I said that I don’t have a problem with Mike Huckabee as a person,” Beck explained. “I don’t know him all that well personally. I have met him once or twice. We’ve had a couple of conversations, maybe one long conversation, and that one was on air. You witnessed it. I spent an hour with him. He seems like a decent guy, a sincere guy. I have many friends who have friends of his. He is a spiritual guy.”

Like Huckabee, Beck didn’t take too kindly to being accused of equating Huckabee to “cancer” or “Nazis,” and said he’s heard such twisting before:

“The only place that I’ve ever heard that kind of a smear is on George Soros’ website, Media Matters. Interesting how you would go to Media Matters’ talking points when you feel like it would benefit you, Mr. Huckabee. I’ve never said progressive is the same as Nazi. So, let’s not try to twist this into me accusing you of killing millions of Jews.”

Below are parts of Beck’s reaction to the whole thing. The first clip is Beck‘s expanded explanation of Huckabee’s “progressive” positions, while the second clip includes Beck dissecting Huckabee’s curious “booger bear” charge:

Glennbeck.com has a more thorough rundown of Beck’s response:

Earlier this week, Glenn said that he was not excited about the possibility of a Mike Huckabee presidency and said that he felt that politically, Huckabee was a progressive. Mike Huckabee did not take kindly to the comments, and responded to Glenn on Huckabee’s website. Glenn addressed those comments on radio this morning, and explained why he said what he said.

Glenn explained that during a discussion of Trump and possible GOP candidates, “I brought up Mike Huckabee, a guy I believe is probably going to be the early favorite for the Republican nominee.”

“I shared this because that’s what I do. I share my thoughts on politics. That’s kind of in my job description.”

“First of all, I said that I don’t have a problem with Mike Huckabee as a person. I don’t know him all that well personally. I have met him once or twice. We’ve had a couple of conversations, maybe one long conversation, and that one was on air. You witnessed it. I spent an hour with him. He seems like a decent guy, a sincere guy. I have many friends who have friends of his. He is a spiritual guy.”

“I also happen to think that he is a big government guy. He’s a progressive. And I’ve been telling you for how long now, three years, there are progressives in both parties.”

“Well, Mike Huckabee obviously didn’t take kindly to that critique, to say the least. He sent me late one night, I think it was maybe Tuesday night, a nasty e-mail saying in part that I should have come to him and not talked about these things publicly. The problem is I have a publicly broadcast national radio show and I don’t really do a show for a private audience of one on a telephone.”

“But as I said, I don’t have anything against Mike Huckabee. I just don’t want him to be our next President, although I did point out on Tuesday, he is absolutely, positively no Barack Obama. Very few are.”

That's pretty funny Beck. I'm pretty sure I heard you do that exact same kind of smear on Debra Medina.

I'd take Beck's side in this. Although I still don't trust him.

And all this time, I thought FOX was trying to promote Huck. I mean, they gave him a show and all. just seems like they were trying to give him exposure for when he would run in the 2012 election.

Could it be, Beck doesn't give a crap what FOX thinks now and thus is giving them a little taste of what he may do in the future?

Beck might be a useful idiot here. A poll posted last night showed Rons numbers going up tremendously without huckabee in the race. If beck can expose huck enough to where his poll numbers drop and huck decides not to run, thats good for RP

Everyone is aware that Beck is just acting as proxy for Romney, right? Romney gets Beck to do his dirty work, keeps his hands clean and dirties a big hurdle keeping him from getting lots of the social conservative vote.

I think that's fine. Let Beck damage Huckabee's electoral chances and RomneyCare and us will take care of Romney.

I think Huckabee is so bad that he doesn't deserve to have any chance regardless of whether Ron was running.

[B][SIZE="5"]Glenn Beck: It’s not just Obama… Mitt Romney is a Socialist too!

1. That video is from over a year ago.
2. Glenn Beck doesn't actually say that. He said, "When romney was running for President I said, "I don't want anybody that flirts with socialism".

Your video doesn't disprove my statement. What has Beck said lately about Romney? Has he ever called him a socialist? Has he taken him to task directly?

Why don't you Prove Glenn Beck actually supports Mitt Romney.

Right now you're just spreading baseless rumors and wild speculations, I see no evidence of Glenn Beck supporting Mitt Romney.

I have to tell you that Mitt Romney could be the only guy that could win, and I don’t know if he could because I think that Americans are going to be I mean, this country is going to be in deep trouble by 2012, and the next term, if it’s not decided this term, the next term will decide our fate. Then I hope that Americans are ready for an adult and are ready for hard news.

As I recall Beck was very pro-Romney during the last Presidential election cycle. If someone has the time and inclination I am pretty sure there have got to be clips of his old radio show floating around somewhere to the effect that he has been a long time Romney supporter. I don't remember Beck giving Huckabee any negative press when he was the media darling for that short period before McCain was crowned. So this is rather amusing to see him oppose his policies now. I think Huckabee is done before he starts this time because of his antics the last time they allowed his mouth to run.

Anyone with a brain was pro-Romney when it crystallized into a two horse race between Juan McCain, the unrelenting warmonger and father of amnesty. Of course, Romney was far from being a palatable choice when the primaries started. You had the Buchanans supporting Romney as well as the lesser of 2 evils, when they were the only 2 left going into Florida.
