Iowa paper publishes names of all permit holders‏

Greetings in Freedom,

A disturbing article was printed yesterday in an Iowa newspaper that publishes the names of all of the concealed carry permit applicants in a particular county.

See for yourself:
http://www.dmcityview.com/2011/04/21/features/coverstory/

As the Wisconsin legislature considers what kind of concealed carry law they will pass: A shall-issue permit system (government registration, mandatory permit, permit tax(fee), government mandated training class, etc) OR constitutional carry (right to carry concealed without a permit just like we currently open-carry without a permit), it is important to consider the implications of permit systems and government registration.

We need not speculate on what will happen with this information. Aside from instances in other states where firearm owners had to register, and those registration lists were later used to track down owners of certain kinds of weapons which later were outlawed, we have a story published JUST YESTERDAY in an Iowa paper which lists the first and last names of 5,200 people who have applied for a permit to carry concealed.

This is why many other states are moving away from permit systems in favor of constitutional carry.

We all know government records are available for public inspection via "Open Records Requests" or "Freedom of Information" requests.

Government records are public information. (as they should be) Your concealed carry application AND permit WOULD be a government record. THEREFORE be very careful that which you allow to be a government record.

Do you want anti-gun newspapers printing your name as permit holders should the Wisconsin legislature sell-out your freedom to a shall-issue permit system?

Do you think you give up your right to privacy just because you choose to carry for self-defense?

What if your boss is anti-gun? Do you want your anti-gun employer knowing you have a permit to carry? What if you are looking for a job? Do you want a possible anti-gun employer searching to see if you have a carry permit before offering you a job?

Do you want to be discriminated against because you choose to carry for self-defense?

In a perfect world, we would all work for freedom minded people. In a perfect world everyone would respect our right to carry. WE DO NOT LIVE IN A PERFECT WORLD.

Some states have laws that prohibit the publishing of names. The danger is that future anti-gun legislatures could remove those laws and the records already exist. If the records do not exist, future legislators cannot change the law to reveal them.

Please contact your legislators and ask them to support constitutional carry because you don't want your privacy invaded like the people of Iowa by anti-gun newspapers. WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH. Most candidates last fall INCLUDING Governor Walker said during their campaign that the RIGHT TO CARRY legislation WAS A PRIORITY. If it was a priority why do we not have a bill introduced yet?

EMAIL GOVERNOR WALKER, ASK HIM TO KEEP HIS PROMISE (That concealed carry was a priority)AND REQUEST THE LEGISLATURE TO ADVANCE RIGHT TO CARRY CONCEALED LEGISLATION:
