The Obama administration is considering an executive order that would force federal contractors to disclose their political contributions before they are awarded contracts, reviving part of the failed DISCLOSE Act.

The DISCLOSE Act (Democracy is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act) failed to pass a cloture vote in the Senate, as a result of a successful Republican filibuster, after which Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid filed a “motion to recommit” but on September 23 the vote failed yet again, 59 to 39, without a single Republican breaking ranks. by Raven Clabough
