Study Reveals Eco Bulbs Cause Cancer (http://www.infowars.com/study-reveals-eco-bulbs-cause-cancer/)

A damning new study conducted by German scientists has found that so-called energy saving light bulbs contain poisonous carcinogens that could cause cancer and should be “kept as far away as possible from the human environment,” but Americans will be forced to replace their traditional light bulbs with toxic CFLs ahead of a government ban set to take effect at the start of next year.

“German scientists claimed that several carcinogenic chemicals and toxins were released when the environmentally-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) were switched on, including phenol, naphthalene and styrene,” reports the London Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/8462626/Energy-saving-light-bulbs-contain-cancer-causing-chemicals.html).

The study, conducted by Peter Braun at the Berlin’s Alab Laboratory, led the scientists involved to warn that the bulbs should only be used sparingly, in areas with good ventilation, and “definitely not in the proximity of the head,” due to the danger of the electrical smog the bulbs generate impacting human health.

That’s going to cause difficulties for Americans who will be forced to buy the bulbs following a government ban on traditional incandescent lighting that comes into effect on January 1, 2012.

Some Radical Environmentalists have toyed with the idea of population reduction/control.

Which bulb? The "pig tail bulb"? If this is true, why the hell haven't other scientists found a link to cancer? Well, I was hoping to get LED lights. Those should be good.

They haven't just toyed with it, the statist's goal is to reduce and control people and the population...eugenics, abortion, environmentalism, global warming etc. are all manifestations of that ultimate goal.

It's sad that some in our movement have fallen prey to some of their authoritarian ideas.

Ah shit, I only have CFL's cause they were cheap at Ikea and they apparently use less power...

Whatever, I smoke and both my parents have had cancer so I doubt this increases my cancer chances that much more...

how the hell do light bulbs release phenol, styrene etc.? The bulb is sealed. The ballast is just like any other converter/transformer

I was wondering the same thing after I read this on Drudge last night. I could understand if the bulb was very hot and then broke open but not under normal working conditions. The bulb is sealed unless it's something on the outside of the glass or the plastic at the base maybe that is the problem.

I am slowly switching to LED's myself. Newegg has 7 watt standard bulbs for 19.99 and I've seen them as low as 14.99 elsewhere. We are entering the cost saving zone for these bulbs as we speak. My wife thinks I'm obsessed with the price of light bulbs at Home Depot because I look every time I go in there but the cost effectiveness is starting to show up if you account for the low power consumption and longevity of the bulbs. The average cost of running a 100 watt CFL bulb is anywhere from $.60 a month to $1.00 a month depending on your energy costs so the bulb pays for itself in about 2.5 years on a bulb that lasts between 8-15 years. Doesn't sound like a bad investment to me. Also those considering going off grid will make for less of a load on your overall system and would require less panels to run.

EDIT: Here is the link for the above bulb at newegg. They are by Collection LED.

100 Watt CFL?! The ones I have around my apartment are only 11W and they're definitely enough! They are equivalent to a 60W incandescent bulb. A 100W is about equivalent to a 500W incandescent. Why you would need so much light is beyond me...

Also, CFL's are most efficient around 30-55W. Below is a Lumens per Watt chart for the average CFL

105W - 65.714
85W - 58.823
65W - 52.308
55W - 65.454
42W - 66.667
40W - 66.25
32W - 65.625
30W - 66.667
27W - 64.815

I'm curious as to how expensive CFL's are in the states...Here I can get a pack of 3 11W, 650 lumens, 6000 hour bulbs for € 2,99.

It's sad that some in our movement have fallen prey to some of their authoritarian ideas.

So the elite have conjured up this plan that to control all of humanity, they will pass laws requiring everyone (including themselves, unless there are loopholes to this lightbulb ban) to use these carcinogen-filled bulbs in order to infect us with cancer so that the population they want to control is slowing dying off but en masse...then, once we're all dead, the elite will have no one to control..so who provides the elite with the chattel labor, fancy products, food, and electricity?

Once we're all dead, the elite will be laboring to do jobs they wouldn't have to with a healthy, massive population?

Ah, it's the perfect plan! World domination with no one left to control because they're all on death beds. Much more fun to toy with millions of people who go crazy with the next Pokemon fad than millions of people with brain tumors seizing all over the place.

That is unless there's also a massive conspiracy to selectively breed humans with CFL carcinogen-resistant traits to ensure only a certain group of people will be chosen to carry on the plan..yes...this is all so perfect.

My experience with LEDs has not been good. They either go out in banks, or grow dim over time.

Lol. Well, I'm sure they will replace humans with robot workers IF human population is reduced that much. Haven't you heard of Robonaut? Nasa and GM helped make a humannoid robot. GM has said they would like to see it in their plants working in the future. Nasa will have Robonaut helping Astronauts on the Space Station. Already alot of work has become obsolete thanks to technology.

I don't think that worked out last time they tried it back in 2001...
