After a Washington state House Ways and Means Committee vote late last week recommending passage, the full chamber today passed the Senate bill to cancel the Evergreen state's 2012 presidential primary. SB 5119, ...

The bill would temporarily suspend the primary until after the 2012 election cycle and would save the state an estimated $10 million for fiscal year 2012.

What does this mean for us?

It means good things. That would make the primary all about the Caucuses. Ron Paul blew away the Caucuses thanks to the efforts of all us die-hards who inflitrated the party functions, but he lost the popular votes. In my county, Ron paul took 7 of 12 delegates to the state convention. The other 5 were split between Huck and McCain, but the popular county vote was Huck with 48%, McCain with 35% and Paul with the remainder.

The media said Ron had quit right between the caucuses he blew away and the elections he didn't blow away. I do remember that. And he hadn't quit.

Is this constitutional? I guess if the state pays for it they can do whatever they want, but it seems to me like an intrusion into freedom of assembly/speech. As for what this means, I think it could mean a few different things depending on what they replace the primary with. A caucus would likely be a great thing, but a convention could be a different story. I don't know how many RP supporters live in Washington.

The Constitution doesn't address political parties. Kind of wish it did; I don't see why independents should have to support primaries, myself.

I don't see what the problem with it would be.

Should the state be funding only two political parties anyways?

Great, great news. We're going to win Washington outright this time.

We will win Washington State. We only lost by 4 % last time in the Caucus.

That is good to hear. I fear that MS is going to be too dumb to vote for him. :(
