So tomorrow (4/20), our YAL chapter is going to be handing out 1/4 sheets in the main part of campus to raise awareness for how destructive the drug war is. Any suggestions/facts/figures that definitely need to make it on there?

I've heard it said that white people use drugs twice as much as black people, but black people are put in prison twice as much as white people... I doubt it is accurate but the underlying point (drug war results in disproportionate jailing along racial lines) is true.

Marc Emery endorsed Ron Paul and Gary Johnson.

Just search the IJ, Reason, IHS, MPP, Cato, Rockwell, and Mises sites. Or you could Google for Ron Paul's statements on the topic.

Amendments 18 and 21. Lots of good information by now on how and why Prohibition failed the first time. And anyone can see how the same thing is happening today.

-making drugs illegal, you create black markets, and black markets are run by criminals. eventually the criminals get so powerful, that even the police is powerless against them.

-nicotin and alcohol are two of the most dangerous drugs, and they are perfectly legal.

-nicotin is far more addictive then marijuhana.

-make the comparison of putting alcohlics in prison. ask them "would you put an alcoholic in prison?".. the same with drug-addicts, they should be trated as sick people, and not put in prison..

-all the money it costs the state. use this statistic, that is very powerful: 90% of the drug problem is associated with its illegality!

Harvard economist Jeffrey Miron has come out with different estimates for the costs of the drug war....I've seen his estimates at about $13-16 billion, $50 billion, even $70 billion....there are so many variables to factor in I'm guessing the difference between $13 and $70 are court-related costs.

Don't know if this will suit for this purpose but I personally find graphics more compelling:
