Ok here is the story as far as I understand it. Some 17 year old kid (yeah real big threat) posts something along the lines about wanting to kill the president. Some ass on the forum reports him to the FBI and this is the result:

Is this what our country is becoming?! It seems like something out of Nazi Germany or Communist Russia.

lol...doesn;t surprise me.

I used to goto that forum all the time. Then I got interested in politics, let all my muscles atrophy and resumed a sedentary life style :)

This is part of why we have this in our forum guidelines:
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=22

+ Posting of direct or inferred threats of violence against other people or property that is not your own is completely unacceptable by any user and subject to immediate banning.

Not that it's a full solution to dumb internet postings but...

That ignorant kid just found out the hard way that threats aren't covered under freedom of speech...poor dumb bastard.

The great thing about this country is that if you do not like the way the government is run, we have peaceful means to change things. It is our responsibility to do so.

Hmm... now comes the question.

Was the threat before the new Homegrown Terrorist legislation was passed? Or does it matter what the law is on the day he is charged, not the day he made the threat?

Poor kid might be the first official Homegrown Terrorist.

Probably just roid rage.

But, yeah, this is a good point...threats of violence (even indirectly) are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Lol I'm a member over there and got to see all this as it happened. Kinda sad that the FBI is now really investigating him even though it was funny for awhile.

FBI is dumb for giving this a minute of attention, but he is dumb for posting this. And also very unfortunate, because I'm sure the vurtual world is choke full of these threats and worse, he was just the one to post in the wrong place about this.

Hopefully he will get a good scared straight session and learns his lesson.

Actually this is not crazy and threatening the president with death has always resulted in this sort of action. My dad actually told me a few stories like this when I was a kid.
