View Full Version : What are the 5 most populated bulletin board on the internet?

Matthew Zak

And why in the world aren't we registering on those bulletin boards, or communities?

Go!

Here are the 5 that I seem to have come up with. I'm going to register with these and spread the Message.

1. http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/

2. http://www.4chan.org/

3. http://d2jsp.org/

4. http://www.ign.com/

5. http://www.nexopia.com/

Some of these are "gamer" forums, which suggests the population consists of young people ages 10 to 30. In my opinion that is the PERFECT age range we should be targeting to spread the message. If we can saturate these forums with the general message of small government, personal liberties, rule of law, freedom from tyranny, free markets, non-interventionism, and personal responsibility -- we may have a significant impact on the culture of not only America, but the world. These are the 5 potentially most populated forums in the world.

I urge EVERYONE here to register on each of these forums/communities, and work their way in. Build rapport, slip in ideas of liberty, and as the election season progresses, PUSH Ron Paul upon all eyes and ears.

We need to be AT LEAST twice as creative, and in some cases, AGGRESSIVE, as we were last time around.

Let it not be said that we didn't do EVERYTHING WE FUCKING COULD!!!

Do you think this would be an effective way to spread the message? If not, why?

Just wondering. :)

No, bad idea with this group. These guys are pretty much a trollfest. You will get zero productivity out of it.

What group? Every site I listed? How do you know?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com is the largest political forum out there.

You can get some decent responses to Ron Paul when he talks about the wars and social policies.

Most of them hate Rand Paul though thanks to Maddow and such.

This.

Really? Even if we go with the whole "Keep the government OUT of regulating the internet" angle? They enjoy their freedom and anonymity, right? They support Wikileaks, right? Which candidate is in their best interest to support? If we can't think outside the box we'll never get someone outside the mainstream elected.

I strongly support this thread. We don't have to all do the same thing. We can work in small groups. I look forward to, a diversity of collective strategies, teamwork, and feedback on how we can improve.

Strange, alexa ranks Politico as the #1 political site yet has it at a rank of 230. Huffington Post is ranked at 33 in the US.

I do believe that it is a good idea for Ron Paul supporters who have a good handle on Ron Paul's stances to go on high ranked sites that allow for user accounts and comments...

cnn.com is ranked 16 in the US, they allow comments on their articles...

I regularly comment on Yahoo! news articles, just to get the ideas out there.

Is it worth trying to convert or even argue with liberals? Maybe to hone your debate skills, but I doubt there will be much converting the government worshiping liberals into libertarians.

I depends. Maybe not convert but you can have an impact with some of them. I find it's easier for me to debate the real pure liberals, rather than the political liberals who are anti-war when a Repub is in office, and pro-war when a Dem is in office.

Matthew, I'm not active at gaia, but I've spent enough time there to know your idea is great.
gaiaonline has excellent "extended discussions", you will like it, have you started yet?

Dr. Paul is already the official presidential candidate of 4chan. He is well liked over there.

4chan used to have a /news/ board which was pretty much /stormfront/. A Ron Paul thread would get posted pretty often actually, ha. But the /news/ board got shut down recently because of all the racism.

Oh, forgive my ignorance. Thanks for the clarification. Well...4chan is the butt plug of the internet with common sense then.

Gaia is home to the stupidest and most vile people on the planet.
I wouldn't go to that forum even if I was paid to do so. You will get absolutely no where there.

You think your average lefty is bad, those people typically make the average lefty look like Goldwater on Steroids.

Edit: Also I don't think this is the best idea, not only are they unreceptive to the ideas most of us believe in, they also often just oppose any political discussion and get annoyed if you bring it up. Reminds me of that attempt there was to do a Ron Paul for President march in WoW from one city to another, it just pissed people in the game off.

Your general suggestion is that 'the campaign' should target young people.

Your suggestion is defeated by the simple fact that young people don't vote. You can completely convince them that Ron Paul's policies are the best, but young people still would rather sleep before class, go to class, then do homework/nap after class rather than go vote.

The way to win an election is to convince those who will actually go to the polls on election day

Arguing on forums is a complete waste of time, and unfortunately I have spent a great deal of time doing just that. People on political forums in the first place are not just your average folk; most have a very solidified viewpoint and are not open to your way of thinking. If you want to spread the message I would recommend first and foremost not doing it online because you will spend many hours of your life for nothing. Your time could better be spent handing out literature in your neighborhood or at local events. The internet is a great place to meet and organize people that you relate to, but not a great place to convert people.

If you do want to spread the message on forums and across the internet to youth, you might have some luck if you post articles or clips that they can actually relate to. I think internet freedom is the most obvious choice. I wouldn't be too tough about it, otherwise you might be labeled as a troll right off the bat, but you could definitely put RP and others in a positive light.

Slashdot needs a ton of help. I try when I can, but it's hard to insert intelligent conversation into the masses of groupthink. Lots of people are open to the ideas of liberty; they just don't truly understand them at this point.

This is the most fundamental truth that everyone involved in political action must realize.

yea 4chan was kinda over run with ron paul threads in 2008 and i figure it will be again without us actively going there seeing as the people over there are mostly borderline anarchists. It got soo bad at one point that "sup" was automatically wordfiltered by the website to say "Ron Paul" instead. Plus... its never a good idea to dick with the asshole that is anonymous.

Is it a bad thing... not particularly. Is it a good thing... not particularly. It is not necessarily to have 4 chan as a friend but you do not want to become a declared enemy. And the problem with 4 chan is that they are very fickled and in 2008 RP blew up pretty quickly on that website almost achieving meme status and was widely popular with the forum but then quickly gained a bunch of trolls hating just as hard as the supporters. High risk small reward... best avoided because nothing makes 4 chan happier than thinking they are being co-opted and finding a new target to raid.

www.townhall.com is a big Republican site. There is a whole world underneath it with user blogs and comments under both them and the authored articles. The articles range a lot, but when I used to post there, there were a lot of big government loving authors. But, they also carry articles by Pat Buchanan, Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams.
