Arab League to ask UN to impose no-fly zone over Gaza

LINK (http://www.jpost.com/DiplomacyAndPolitics/Article.aspx?id=215986)

This is a dangerous diplomatic escalation as such a UN mandate treats Gaza civilians with similar santity as Libyan civilians for whose protection US/NATO had to impose No Fly Zone over Libya with support of Arab league. Obama's neocon puppet masters ( LINK (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?286494-Former-Israeli-Air-Force-Captain-calls-Obama-AIPAC-s-Slave&p=3197815&viewfull=1#post3197815) ) need to step in and make sure Obama vetoes such a UN call. Besides US military is tied up on 4 fronts already, last thing US needs is a military confrontation with a trustworthy ally Israel if they violated such a no fly zone over Gaza.

What do you think?

An anti-tank missile fired from the Gaza Strip struck a school bus in southern Israel Thursday, wounding two people, including one child critically, Israeli officials said.
...

Israeli medical services said the bus was nearly empty after dropping off school children and was carrying only the driver and a lone passenger at the time of the attack. Paramedics were trying to resuscitate a 16-year-old boy with a serious head wound at the scene. The driver was moderately wounded.

Israel and Hamas Seek Gaza Cease-Fire (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704366104576254812773204784.html?m od=googlenews_wsj)

Wall Street Journal
APRIL 10, 2011

TEL AVIV—Fighting along the Gaza border diminished sharply Sunday as both Israel and Hamas called for a cease-fire following three days of fighting that mark the worst escalation since their three-week war in the Gaza Strip ended two years ago.

Palestinian militants had fired a total of 10 mortars and rockets on Sunday through the late afternoon, compared with more than 140 from Thursday through Saturday, according to the Israeli army. The military said it held its fire Sunday against militant targets, after dozens of attacks left 18 Palestinians dead and dozens wounded in the Thursday-Saturday period. Nine civilians were among the dead, according to Palestinian medical officials.

Though both sides have said they wish to avoid a broader war, the two rounds of fighting that have erupted in less three weeks highlight an erosion in the balance of deterrence that had helped keep a relative calm.

A Hamas spokesman told Israel Radio that the organization is talking to Egypt and European diplomats to request a cease-fire. "We want there to be calm and stability in Gaza," said Ghazi Hamad, who serves a deputy foreign minister in the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip. "We asked that Israel stop its attacks because we have more than 18 deaths in 48 hours. This is a very difficult situation."

At Israel's weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a harsh response if militants in Gaza continued to attack southern Israeli cities. Later Sunday, Mr. Netanyahu said that if Hamas wants, "the calm will be restored."

Israel Retaliated.

Libya's Gaddafi was also retaliating, in principple they may have have point. If NFZ can be imposed in Libya, why not in Gaza?

Besides, Israelis and Palestinians are always retaliating for one thing or the other, point is how much value should we place on civilians in Gaza?

Death toll mounts as Israel strikes again at Gaza

The exchange of attacks is the worst violence in the region for two years

Three Hamas militants have been killed in an Israeli air strike on the southern Gaza Strip.

The deaths bring the toll from several days of Israeli strikes to at least 17, including several civilians. Dozens of people have been wounded.

Israel says it is responding to a Hamas missile fired at a school bus, an attack it said had "crossed the line".

The military wing of Hamas said that attack had been in response to the killing of Hamas leaders last week.

Israel's strikes and the dozens of rockets and mortars fired by militants across the border represent the worst violence in Gaza in two years.
