A company called KV Pharmaceutical introduced something they called Makena. It helped prevent premature delivery. It got fast tracked through. Why? Because there was nothing new about it.

Notice how it says in the article that it used to be mixed by pharmacists for about twenty bucks a dose, and the only advantage was that it was pre-mixed? So, KV began selling it at $1500 a dose. How did they get away with this? Did pharmacists really hate mixing it up that much? No, the FDA made it illegal for them to mix it up.

Funny how we set up all this government to handle stuff for us, and just wind up spending twice as much time trying in vain to fix government...
