I can't help but notice he didn't try to forecast what year it would be when this happened.

We have some pretty substantial signals from the Ron camp that he's going to announce by 4/25, and Rand won't go back on his word -- nor is he stupid.

If Ron doesn't see optimistic poll numbers he can work with, wouldn't it make sense for him to simply ride the hot hand and pass the torch? He did his yeoman's work carving out a place for Rand. Rand would have never won his seat without Ron's reputation.

Ron is in the May 5 debate. An 'msm observer'? LOL! Is there any such whose opinion we would trust?

Regardless, if Ron demurs and Rand THEN jumps in, I will support him wholeheartedly. I just didn't like the 'bump Ron if he wants to run' meme from a few, after he built the whole thing, plus, I honestly think he'd be better in the debates, still, in part because of Rand playing safe. And he's politically more wiley and likely to see traps before they spring. But I could get really enthusiastic over either, so long as it is Ron's choice.

It would make sense. If Ron happens to "jump the shark" prior to the first filing deadline (I don't think will happen, but I could be wrong) then bow out, and all of the sudden Rand announces his candidacy it would be an easy transition for everyone over to Rand's campaign. Not to mention it would bring on a lot of the more tea party traditional conservatives over.

Rand is already going to do that for Ron.

By the way, I think Ron Demurs coached the 1983 Quebec Nordiques.

I want Rand to stay in the Senate until 2016. He will be unstoppable then. It would be great if he OWNED the senate's ridiculous unconstitutional bills for another 4 years.

This is a brilliant move by Rand, Rockwell, et al. Of course Rand is not going to run, but they're building anticipation regarding which of the Pauls will run. And the media is going along with it.

What are the chances we get Ron and Rand up there at the South Carolina debate?

Rand is already going to do that for Ron.

I agree. I think Rand endorsing Ron's candidacy and going around campaigning for him would do that.

It's going to be an uphill climb:

Paul will turn 76 in August, and there is a sense among some Republican voters that his chance has already come and gone. New Hampshire Liberty Caucus Chairman Andrew Hemingway said that while Rep. Paul continues to enjoy significant grassroots enthusiasm in the first-in-the-nation primary state, it is another libertarian-leaning candidate who would be better positioned to become a formidable contender.

"Tea party people here are more excited about Rand Paul than they are about Ron Paul," Hemingway said.
