I am willing to bet that you could count the number of Reps and Senators that would respond to your invitation in such a manner on your fingers.

Most can't even say they've been in a successful marriage for that long, anyhow. :)

Congrats!!!

Apparently Ron traditionally gets involved with a lot of special events of his constituents. I heard that, at least in the past when he wasn't in such high demand, that he would attend christenings and funerals and all sorts of stuff for his constituents.

First, my condolences in your loss of bachelor-dom. ;) Second, I am amused that you thought to invite RP, and that he took the time to answer you. :) As others have noted, that's pretty classy of him.

Um, why? You do strike me as a c.z. kind of dude :pNo actually. But diamonds aren't worth much more than quartz; theye are artificially scarce. I think the whole idea is just silly, but if one must get something, make it actually valuable, ruby, amethyst, sapphire, etc. Any girl who wants a diamond is shallow and any guy who actually buys one is uneducated.

Right, because nothing says "strongest substance on earth, unbreakable like our bond" like a ... chunk of quartz.

Right, because nothing says "strongest substance on earth, unbreakable like our bond" like a ... chunk of quartz. Then a pure diamond should do just fine, right?

Sure. When our anniversary comes around, and you'd like a new tool set, I'll just get you a chunk of metal and some wood. It's the same thing as a hammer and a drill and some wrenches and the like :p

You're free to not get a diamond and go with a chunk of quartz, but calling anyone who'd like a diamond or buy one stupid ... just makes you look ignorant of the symbolism, and cheap. At that point, why get a ring at all? Your vows should be enough, and some polished sapphire isn't necessary, is it? That is money that could be well-spent on your next trip to get your picture taken with a celebrity, and if she marries you, she'd understand that :D
