Observations/analysis:

We better hope that Palin and Huckster don't run, obviously. The other thing is that everyone who's not voting for Ron Paul in that poll (with the exception of a few Bachmann voters and some who are just voting on name recognition) are hardcore statists who are unopen to convincing by libertarian or non-interventionist arguments. This means that it's not feasible to win NH, but finishing second is certainly doable, and that would be nearly as good as winning, since it would both establish Paul as a genuine "top-tier" candidate and also erase the meme that "a vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote." Also, what's with that 1% who change their minds from Ron Paul to Giuliani?

That seems like a rather defeatist attitude to me. We need to stop writing off whole blocks of voters as 'unreachable' - I still see that a lot around here.

We're making steady progress. And another important thing to remember is that the vast majoirty of voters pay next to no attention to politics. A lot of Republican primary voters, even after all this time, still have only the vaguest idea of what Ron Paul believes, and for many of them, it's just fuzzily recalled insults by cable news hosts against Ron from 3 years ago that form some sort of superposition of 'supported by domestic terrorists' and 'hates Israel'. I think there are substantial numbers of these voters who would support Ron if only we can reach them with what he really thinks.

So that is why people are pushing Trump to run, to drive down Ron in NH.

May be stretching, but can you think of any other earthly reason ANYONE would want him to run?

I was going to post this, but you beat me to it. :p

I think the Media wants Trump to run because he'll say controversial things during the debate (Where's the birth certificate) and drive up ratings.
