Reality check: The 800 + pages of the Patriot Act were written prior to 9/11. So were the plans to invade both Afghanistan and Iraq. But PNAC needed 9/11 to take place. They wanted 9/11 to take place. They wrote about 9/11 (their new Pearl Harbor) taking place. What makes you think they had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 taking place?

As a matter of fact, the book The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and Its Geostrategic Imperatives, by Zbigniew Brzezinski, published in 1998, basically blueprints everything that is going on today as it relates to the military primacy of the US and it's domination of the world. This is not new stuff. The Bush/PNAC administration is not responding to 9/11. They are in fact carrying out a pre-planned agenda made possible by 9/11.

In 1974, on the recommendation of Zbigniew Brzezinski, Aaron became Senator Walter Mondale's legislative assistant. The following year, Aaron was task force leader of the Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence. He was the principal architect of the Committee's recommendations. Aaron would later follow Mondale to the Jimmy Carter Presidential campaign.

In 1977, Aaron was asked by Zbigniew Brzezinski, who had been appointed the National Security Advisor, to become Deputy National Security Advisor in the administration of Jimmy Carter. Aaron was one of several former Kissinger aides appointed by Jimmy Carter to foreign policy and defense positions.

It has come out in the past that the US conspired, connived, lied and pulled many dirty tricks to take over the Caspian Basin oil and gas fields. This all beganl way back in the Carter Administration when Jimmy and his National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, dreamed up the creation of 'Al Qaeda' as a way of stirring up dissension in Islamic areas such as Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, etc. Their plan was for the US to rush in and 'save' these smaller, oil and natural gas rich nations from their Soviet masters; to introduce them to 'democracy' and 'freedom' - at gunpoint, if necessary.

Of course, this is the same Russia-hating Zbigniew Brzezinski who is now the top foreign policy advisor to Barky Obama.

The decade long Soviet war with Afghanistan endorsed by Brzezinski resulted in the deaths of 1 million Afghans.

Radicalization of Afghans, endorsed by Brzezinski, fell under the direction of accused 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden.

From the History Commons:

Osama bin Laden begins providing financial, organizational, and engineering aid for the mujaheddin in Afghanistan, with the advice and support of the Saudi royal family. [New Yorker, 11/5/2001]

Brzezinski also endorsed covert Chinese aid to Cambodia’s Pol Pot, leader of the Khmer Rouge regime that was responsible for the deaths of up to 2 million in Cambodia through execution, starvation and forced labor.

4. Former US National Security Adviser, Zbigniew Brzezinski, on China and the Khmer Rouge, 1979:

“I encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot. Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him, but China could.” According to Brzezinski, the USA “winked, semi-publicly” at Chinese and Thai aid to the Khmer Rouge.

If this guy endorses anything, you know you should run hard and fast in the opposite direction.

I don't trust this guy. Something about him gives me the creeps.

EDIT: Looked into him a little and wow, were my instincts ever right. He's nearly as straight up unapologetically evil as Kissinger.

Zbigniew Brzezinski’s Plan to Bomb Tehran

A bombing run, he told the President, meant that should the mission fail it would be just a sidebar on the next day’s front page.

The story of loyalists versus outsiders is one that plays out in the West Wing of every administration I’ve had the privilege to cover, beginning with Zbigniew Brzezinski, the Polish-born national security advisor thrust into Jimmy Carter’s inner circle of Georgians.
“Zbig,” as he was known to everyone, passed away last week after a long and eventful life. Listening to the outpouring of praise and some tempered criticism too, I wanted to add my voice of thanks to him for being so generous with his time with reporters.
His inclination to talk to the press often put him at odds with the Georgians who didn’t trust anybody who got too much media attention, a risk for anybody working at a top level in any administration, and one of the reasons the media relies so often on anonymous sources.
Brzezinski had the big corner office in the West Wing that looks out on the driveway by the North Lawn, and backgrounders with him were like extended tutorials.
