It's a Fox News interview with Chris Wallace! Is this for real? I'm speechless!

4 trillion over 10 years is 400 billion a year...there would still be a $1+ trillion budget deficit every year...not enough.

So did Rand, first. And Ryan is feeding in the Social Security fixes Rand alluded to as being on top of that. They are so trying to position Ryan as a series cutter, and while I have to look at this latest proposal, I am fairly sure it will be full of gimmicks.

Cut or reduce expected deficits by $4 trillion?

It is in the range that Rand Paul proposed. It also sets the table for a Rand Paul/Ron Paul presidency.

Paul Ryan is Aspen Institute GARBAGE....He is a strong proponent of TARP and the New World Order military machine....4 Trillion in inflated dollars over 10 years is chump change...cuts annual deficits to about 1.2 trillion instead of the current 1.7.......Big deal...we are still screwed!

He no longer supports 3 Trillion dollar Iraq reconstruction effort? How does he propose this cutting, by spending more in Afghanistan and shutting down US government in America?

Where was Ryan's care about spending when he voted for Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, and the Iraq war?

What a fraud.

So did Rand, first.

If I'm not mistaken, Rand's was over a 5 year period.

Paul Ryan has claimed in the past the Friedrich Hayek and Milton Friedman were his two greatest influences....granted his career hasn't shown it at all, but this proposal is still a step farther than anything McConnell and Boehner have suggested.

Seems to be all caps and very few cuts.

They're just trying to keep the people happy with BS plans. Everything that Boehner, Cantor, or Ryan put out is all political BS.

Well at least one of them if not both would have bitch slapped him for supporting the original 2008 bailout under G.W. Bush.

lol both would. Friedman has anti-bailout speeches from the 70s and Hayek would have had a heart attack at the idea

Hold on a minute. We have an annual deficit of $1.5 trillion so that's $15 trillion added to the national debt over 10 years. Cutting "$4 trillion over 10 years" adds 15 minus 4 = $11 trillion to the national debt over 10 years. How is this good?

Yes. Ryan's proposal appears to add $11 trillion to the national debt over 10 years. Is he insane or does he think everyone is stupid? Unless he's talking about reducing the national debt by $4 trillion which seems highly unlikely. We would have to run big surpluses consistently to do that.

That's what ia was wondering (well, not really. I knew the answer). Cutting $4 trillion will still leave us screwed debt wise. Are there any more details?

Most likely the latter. They're just trying to keep everyone pleased and "cutting" 4 trillion in 10 years sounds like a lot. In reality, it's just a bunch of caps on Obama's plan (which isn't even concrete and can be changed by the next president anyway).

This is my understanding of Paul Ryan's plan:

- It allows for 10 more years of deficit spending
- It adds between $5-11 TRILLION dollars to the national debt
- It spends a total of $40 TRILLION over the next 10 years
- It will REQUIRE the debt ceiling to be raised
- It's obviously an unbalanced budget (in fact it doesn't fully balance until the year 2040)
- It actually continues to increase spending over the next few years (it merely slows the rate of spending, not actually cutting spending anytime soon)
- It is still bigger than the budget we had under Bill Clinton

Am I right correct???
