I think it's time to exit the Middle East/Persia and leave it in a hermetically sealed jar. Maybe we can come back to visit in 200 years when books aren't afforded so much protection.

200 years? We'll be sending them tax payers purchased Korans again in another 20 years as history tends to repeat itself.

Casey wanted to ship subversive propaganda through Afghanistan to the Soviet Union’s predominantly Muslim southern republics.” The Pakistanis agree to the plan and soon the CIA begins sending subversive literature and thousands of Korans to Soviet republics such as Uzbekistan. Mohammad Yousaf, a Pakistani general who attends the meeting, will later say that Casey said, “We can do a lot of damage to the Soviet Union.” [Washington Post, 7/19/1992]

We have just installed radical sharia in Iraq overthrowing a secular Christian friendly regime and working on Libya now. We don't seem to get along with secular muslim regimes, radical Islamists are often easier to purchase/control and seem to make natural allies for America.

ABC's Nightline has been strident in suggesting Jones' culpability in the destruction of the UN compound in Afghanistan. LOL. This situation reminds me of the old, worn-out assertion that someone yelling, "Fire!", in a theater is guilty of incitement and any concomitant physical damage or injury. Oh, brother ... There should be NO law against incitement. In fact, maybe the US should have a national Day of Incitement to finally rid us of the silly notion that words and beliefs cause physical damage. ;) I say the latter partly in jest. Why? Because people (mobs) don't HAVE to internalize words although they frequently do. This ludicrous situation reminds me of a preacher on the street and someone reacts, "oh, please stop!" as if that person may be physically harmed by one's words and belief. ;) Obama's assertion that Jones' words and ritualistic burning of the Koran will harm the presence of our troops in the Middle East should be largely reevaluated not in terms of harming our troops, but rather in terms of our unlawful PRESENCE in the Middle East. ;) With that said, I personally think Jones' actions are basically a silly publicity stunt. If the Holy Bible were burnt, I'd simply ignore the silly stunt as MY God is more than capable of handling the situation Himself. :)
